what if the crank shaft sensor was replaced and still no start will crank thought. Any ideas?

  • Jeff Armer Feb 21, 2016

Coil pack . or the PCM

  • Jeff Armer Feb 21, 2016

Test for B+ voltage at the coil pack ,the red with lite green stripe wire , with key on should have battery voltage . The other three wires go to the engine computer , The computer turns the coils on an off by those three wires . Is yours V-8 or V-6 ?

    thank you will check those

  • Jeff Armer Feb 21, 2016

You could check for computer control with a test light . I wouldn't think all three drivers in the computer would be bad . If there is power to the coil an the PCM is controlling the coils ,it has to be the coil pack .

It won't crank up and it sat up 2 years

No gas, plugged fuel filter? Turn on the key but don't crank engine, listen with door open towards gas tank. You should hear a click and a slight motor pump noise for a couple seconds. If not then your sending unit failed.

My 2004 ford explorer was running fine it started missing lights went off and now willnot start or turnover

You need to find out what is missing Fuel or ignition. and repair the issue.. you do this by cranking it and seeing if there is any spark going to spark plugs.. if you have spark you will need to see if you have fuel pressure. easy way is to squirt a little fuel into throttle body and see if fires .. if it does then you are missing fuel.. Then you need to find out if it is a fuel pump relay, fuel pump, or possibly something as simple as a clogged fuel filter. When yyou turn the key to on yyou may be able to hear the fuel pump come on for 1-2 seconds to charge the system. The fuel pump is in the gas tank.. so listen and see if tiu can hear it.. some time the pump will run but not pump fuel.

2000 ford 4.0 explorer cranks but fails to start. It acts like it starts after sitting all night but then only cranks, what is wrong?

Check for spark to the sparkplug. Try a shot of starting fluid as having gas pumping and having the fuel injectors opening are 2 different things. If you have spark, then the fuel injectors may not be working. Quick diagnosis is to use starting fluid and see if engine tries to run. This indicates problem is not lack of spark but lack of fuel getting into cylinders.

Running fine. Died and wont start. Cranks fine

can you hear the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key on but without crancking the engine? Generally the fuel pump will prime for about two to three seconds when you first turn the key on. if you don't hear it that's probably the culprit. If you do hear it it may be a bad pump. also should check to see if you have spark. You can do this by removing a plug wire and using another spark plug. Ground the plug to somthing metal and have someone crank the engine (making sure you are not touching the plug or metal) You should see a spark while cranking. Good luck

1997 ford explorer cuts off while driving down road. It will not start. fuel pump is working. checked all fuses, they are good. switch relays. It still will not start. There were spark at the plugs. I...

If you confirmed spark is there, and you hear fuel pump working, I'd still try spraying WD-40 in throttle body intake for a couple of seconds, when it won't start, just to see if it kicks over, just in case pump is running but not up to pressure. If it fires for a second or 2 with WD-40, then you know lack of fuel is the problem.

Ford Explorer 97 - cranks but won't start sometimes

I don't see anywhere where you replaced the drive belt or the fuel filter it could be building up pressure in the fuel pump causing the sending unit to stick but before you do all this get a digital volt meter and check out the crank sensor I'm just asking because it has happened to me if you have a lot of keys on one key ring it can damage the ignition switch so check out the crank sensor and the ignition switch first
