check the oil pressure using a real tool first.
do not skip step one, or you might end up with a wrecked engine.

ever heard of a shop, with ASE tech , there.
and ask them to check it for you.
its like 15min work, to any pro.

why ask net bunnies. why your engine has issues.
we cant test it
we cant tell you all the steps. but would if you asked and would buy the tools. (i bet not)

so,,,, get car serviced, and WIN !

try using TOOLS. eg. a real gauge.

if the senders is not fibbing dont drive car
if sender is fibbing, then replace sender.
    it's that simple,.
in fact this is the iidiiot lamps purpose.

the lamp is toy grade as is the sensor.
use real tools to solve real problems.

Check the sending unit for the oil light at the engine block

Mike

  • Anonymous Mar 17, 2016

always ASSUME the light is not fibbing
    why wreck an engine, guessing?
    why
we use real gauges at the oil gallery there.
    first.
    not guessing .....

im glad you dont work at Nuclear power plant.
ah this gauge is fibbing , homer says...

juriry I have reviewed a lot of your answers and I see you take pride in trying to show how smart you SUPPOSED to be, but all you seem to do is show just the opposite. Folks come there for help, not snide comments. No one said the gauge was fibbing and they were told to check sending unit, which is your 1st step prior to starting. then open your valve cover oil fill cap and see if oil is coming up, BEFORE you go waste a lot of money. You can also just listen to tappets if nose shut down asap, and replace the oil pump. next time help instead of being a smarta-- Mike

Can a new oil filter cause the Oil Level Warning Light to come on and stay on?

yes on some models when you change the oil then the filter you need to add oil to the new filter then put it on see the system has to build up a prime and some motors are weak and cannot pick the new oil up Good Luck let me know Mike L.

Kia carens oil light staying on engine sluggish

Hi John, The oil pressure warning light is indicating pressure not level. You say the warning light is on at all times and the engine is losing power? I believe you should have a compression test carried out on the vehicle. It seems highly possible there has been severe damage to the engine. Is the engine emitting any strange sounds? How long has the oil light been on? How often do you service the vehicle by replacing all filters and engine oil? What engine oil do you use? Regards John

Oil indicator light

Without checking its hard to say. It could be as simple as a poor oil filter. Or a bad sensor. Or the beginning of problems.

either wire to oil sending unit has a short in it, or the oil pressure sending unit is going bad.

The oil light stays on

Have you checked the enfine oil dipstick to ensure the oil is at the correct level ? The oil pressure light comes when ther is insufficient oil pressure in the engine. If oil level is OK it could mean several things. They could be a clogged oil filter or a faulty oil pressure switch or worst case a faulty oil pump.

Oil light is staying on when i turn the car on. This is not the service indicator oil change light, but theother one. It's not staying on the whole time the car is on, but when I turn the car on, it's...

This could be a possible oil filter issue(clog), or a failing oil pump as well. The first check point will be to inspect the oil level. pull the dip stick to check for proper level. if the level is sufficient, i would move on to the sending unit. Inspect the oil pressure sending unit for faults or loose connections. if the sending unit is ok, and connected properly, i would advise to take the vehicle to a near by mechanic or service depot for a look at the oil pump and filter.

NOTE-

(((Most common issue will be a faulty oil pressure sending unit)))

would be best to have oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge to be sure you have oil pressure.
