Re: VW Beetle the drivers side window goes half way up...
Sounds like you have a bad regulator. this is caused by the cables in the regulator becomming dry and start to bind up and then break causing the window to free fall down.

The fuse block that contains the window fuses is located at the left side of the dash board. Open the door and remove the cover. There should be a diagram in your owners manual, and may be one on the inside of the cover.
Sounds like a window regulator clip problem. VW extended the warranty on these years ago, but only on front windows. It's possible vw might do it under warranty. Call their 1-800 # and ask... There are tutorials on how to replace one online, but it's pretty involved...
Posted as a 2000 VW Beetle, but the fuse panel should be located on the side of the dash just inside the driver's door. There should also be a fiuse diagram on the fuse door panel, as well as in the back of the Owner's Manual.
Hi Rachel . It sounds like the plug on the drivers window motor (Which is also the ecu for that door) has come off or is loose . This will stop the cdl working as well . Regards VW Audi tech
