if not sure, send photo of truck then of the shifter

check gearbox oil level as dry syncro rings can also cause your box to jump out of gear ,detent springs are only for giving u the feel of positive gear engagement.

THERMOSTAT STAYING OPEN CAUSE PCM STAY IN OPEN LOOP WHICH WILL CASE ENGINE RUN POORLY TRANSMISSION SHIFTING LATE.REPLACE THERMOSTAT SEE IF IT HELPS PROBLEM.

SOURCE: my isuzu bighorn automatic transmission slips at any forward gear but good at reverse.

This is an indication that the forward clutch pack has failed in the transmission or that the clutch pack has low hydraulic pressure from an internal fluid leak or a defective check ball. Pull the pan off the bottom of the transmission, if it is really full of dark sludge you will need to replace/repair the transmission.

SOURCE: my isuzu bighorn does not ingage first gear and 4th gear, its an auto gearbox 1994 model bighorn with a 4JG2 engine... am burning more fuel with it than a goods train! please if you know or have advis

Japenese import no doubt as their no europeon certificate of homoglonation for this vehicle but the gearbox is the same as the isuzu i would imagine which if i remember rightly has a solonoid for each gear which is controled by a computer so firstly check the wiring loom from the brain to the gearbox as the wires could be damaged ,if they appear ok then either scrap it or try the dealers to see if how much they want to drop the gearbox sump and investigate,but often these parts here in europe are unavailable and only a complete exchange gearbox is listed in which case buy a nice manual range rover

I have an Isuzu Bighorn on take off it does not have power ,its like it will be engaging gear number 3 ,but when you reverse it has power .

Remember reverse is a much lower gear but it shows the engine is capable of RPMs so take a look at the fuel filter and pump. I hope this helps. Take care.

Have you checked the trans oil level correctly when hot? If its OK then you need a trans specialist to carry out various tests with gauges etc

As in lobotomized, heh heh? That sounds like more reverse-engineering than the makers would put up with. Look under the dash, both sides. I really don't know, surprising if it has no modern electronics.

1993 isuzu bighorn fwd indicator blinks in 2H

I have 3L diesel manual gear 2000. Happened once after the FWD vaccumed operated fork mechanism in the front axle got a very small kick and bent very little. This happened by some sand that entered between the front plate protection and theFWD mechanism. I had to opeb and ground the shaft end. Vaccum was OK.

Backup lights wont come on

Ihave a isuzu bighorn and my reverse lights and beeper only come on occasionally, I havent worried about it but I have had it checked anda relay switch on top of the gear box needs replacing.The contacts are probably dirty, nothind to loose so give it a good tap with somthing.
