Where is the location of the ignition module on a Volvo 1992 940 4 cyclinder?

no code for that, may show misfire on plug or cyclinder ,fuel system problem. pull one wire at a time put on plug edge listen for pop. hear pop coil is firing. no pop bad wire or coil or power to coil

Ignition module doesn't go bad often. If you are not getting spark I would check crank sensor first, they do fail often. If you have spark check fuel pump relay. That's another item that fails frequently.

1) Faulty coil, connections to coil, or other secondary wire issues, cap/rotor defective
2) Faulty switching node (this is the Bosch "ignition amplifier module" on the driver's fenderwell, front.
3) Faulty crank angle sensor or connector
4) Rare, faulty ignition computer

Notes on the coil: Positive is a fused feed. Verify you have 12 VDC at this point with the coil disconnected and reference this to ground with KOEO (KP II). The 'ground' circuit is switched by the aforementioned ignition amplifier on the driver's fenderwell which is switched by the ignition module.

Crank angle sensor must be functioning for ignition system to work. If this is faulty, the entire system shuts down. This is located at the top of the bellhousing, rear of engine. Take care upon removal or installation, the bracket is fragile.

You either have a bad ignition coil or the ignition module.What you can do is swap the 2 coils to see if the misfire changes cylinders.If it does then it is the coil if not then it is the module.The module is located under the coils.Hope this helps.Good luck.Let me know if you have anymore questions.

the ignition module is to the left of the air filter, right against the right side of the engine. I replaced mine, just two screws and take off black plastic covering. Make sure u disconnect negative battery post first. When done hook negative back up. If engine light don"t go off for P0320 code, disconnect battery for 5 min and connect back, I let my battery stay disconnect overnight.

the P0303 code is for cyclinder #3 possible causes: -defective spark plugs, ignition cables, ignition coil. or flywheel/pulse wheel. -blocked/leaking injector -uneven compression -leakage between the cooling system and cyclimder moisture,flashover in the ignition system on HT side intermittent open-circuit, intermittent short circuit to tje ground,intermittent short circuit to the voltage supply, contact resistance or loose connector in the ignition system low-tension side, in the injector circuit or fuel pump circuit -fuel stoppage -water in the sparl plug wells - contaminated fuel or incorrect fuel type -repeated cold starting where the engine coolant temperature (ECT) has not reached nomal operating temperature between start P0304 is for cyclinder #4. it sounds like your master cyclinder is failing... i presume you have also examined all wheel cyclinder/calipers for leaks as well ?

Have you checked compression on non firing cylinders? Likely has blown head gasket between these two cylinders if located side by side.
