Yes, a thrust bearing could make what you describe as a rubbing noise. It could also make a squealing noise.
The thrust bearing acts on the clutch pressure plate. When you depress the clutch the bearing presses against that plate. Over the course of time/mileage and age, the pressure plate becomes worn where the bearing acts against it. The bearing itself wears.
The link below is generic to show what things look like:
clutch pressure plate with bearing Google Search
The clutch is a 3 piece unit consisting of bearing, pressure plate and driven plate. If any one of them is worn you would replace all 3 parts.
If you rest your foot on the clutch pedal and can feel a 'pulse' - up and down pulse on the pedal - this suggests that the crankshaft thrust washers are worn. Worn crankshaft thrust washers allow the crankshaft some forward-aft movement which is felt at the clutch pedal as a 'pulse'.
Other than that, noise from the clutch comes down to the bearing/driven plate/pressure plate. If one is at fault you change all 3 items
Opel vectra ,,,,ot sure if their is a automatic adjustment on the pedal ,if so it could be this failing which the cable could be frayed ,would really need to see it to know for sure
