Hi jazzric8, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Is it automatic? Does the car sound loud?

2005 Nissan Altima suddenly sluggish

The cause could be almost anything, though if a fault developed likely to affect the exhaust emissions the engine check light will switch on and a fault code be recorded in the memory.
Most such faults have other, noticeable symptoms such as poor starting or uneven running as well as a low performance. I expect if other symptoms were present you would have mentioned them.

One thought does occur that fits - sluggish performance with no other symptoms; a partially blocked exhaust and in particular the CAT.

Starting off truck is sluggish but slowly gains rpm then runs fine

SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR TIMING CHECKED. EVEN THOUGH THE TRUCK IDLES FINE IF THE TIMING IS OFF BY ONE DEGREE IT CAN CAUSE LOW POWER.

Sluggish acceleration, frequent jerking and engine knock at high RPM

Sounds to me like the timing is off! it COULD be bad gas though! run that tank through, and refill, then see how it feels!

Car drives sluggish in drive.

There are quite a few things that will cause the car to drive "sluggish," so I won't try to tell you all of them without a more specific indication of the problem (does sluggish refer to way the engine runs or the way the car handles, for example), but:
Looking at the car from the front, the dip stick for the transaxle is down very low at the left hand side of the engine, close to being under the battery. It is normally yellow. Follow the large water hose that runs down next to your battery. The yellow dip stick handle is right along side of that hose (to the right of it) down low. It will either pull out or unscrew.
Ordinarily, if the transmission has a problem, your D4 light will start flashing. There is a way to read the codes, given the number of flashes and whether they are long or short, but it's involved. If your D4 starts flashing (beyond just coming on when you put it in gear) you probably should have it checked.
Usually, the way an engine runs has more to do with fuel/air mix or ignition than it does with the transmission. Have you, for example, changed your air filter recently? Your plugs? But there are many other things, as I said.
Hope this helps.

Today when I was driving my car it began to vibrate loudly and then it acted like it was going to stall. It sounds strange when it is running and when I press on the gas, it is sluggish, very sluggish

I'm wondering if the motor is shot. W/ car on level surface, check oil level (w/ car off, pull out dipstick, wipe off w/ clean rag, reinsert, pull out and see if oil level is low, or doesn't show up on the dipstick. How many miles on the car? It could be a major engine problem.countrycurt0
