SOURCE: 4 wheel drive wont engage
it could just be a fuse check to see if all your fuses are good . if not it could be the switch relay that is shot.
SOURCE: when i have my 4 wheel drive engaged making turns
If you drive on hard surfaces, while in four wheel drive, the wheels will fight against each other. It's more noticable while turning. This is perfectly normal, but puts a lot of stress on the driveline. You should only select 4wd when driving on a slippery or soft surface. Hope this helps..

I would check the fuse panel(s) for possable fuse issue.
If fuses related to the 4 wheel drive is not pop close the panel(s) up.
I would than hope into the truck and perform the 3 quick on/off with the key(do not start truck!! and let dash units turn on before turning back off) to see if there might be a code the comes up. If so, call or look on-line for your codes to describe what the issue is or could be.
If the truck does not show codes I would move on to perform this step:
- Start the truck
- Put foot on your break
- Take truck out of "OD" Overdrive
- Place the truck into "N"
- Switch the quick switch into 4H and let it sit for a few seconds and drop you truck into "D" with the "OD" off. If the light is flashing try to drop the truck into L1 with the "OD" off and wait a few seconds to see what this does. If the light on the 4H is still flashing take the gearshifter back to "N" and wait a few more seconds. If the 4H does not stop flashing try all of these steps for 4L. (What we are doing is seeing whether or not the switch is bad or the quick switch unit that allows the 4 wheel to kick in is bad.
- If the lights keeps flashing I would go to a repair shop that you would trust to assist in this issus.
Just as a FYI, I do have a 02 Durango and the 4H switches great it is the 4L that some times takes a while to switch. Another thing to remember that if you use your 4 wheel drive to go mudding in all the time you my have burned out the unit the it takes to perform this task of engaging the 4 wheel drive all together.
I hope this helps out with your issue and remember to perform the simple steps 1st before spending big money on repairs!
