SOURCE: Truck dying

there are a few things that would cause that wo all i can tell u from what u said is that u need to check for fuel pressure w/ a gauge then look up the specs online. if u lose pressure after start up the fuel pump is bad. but if it stays good as the truck dies then u do have other issues that someone would have to look it over. u could have a ignition module heating up and opening the circuit or an electronic coolant temperature sensor reading -40 or 300 starving or flooding the engine with fuel pull out a spark plug and ground the threads onto something. and check for spark as it dies. if it stops sparking then u need to look into the ignition system. if it does not then you are looking at a fuel problem or a cam positing sensor. which could shut off fuel injector pulse and ignition fire. like i said alot of componets could cause irratic behavior like this ull just have to start off with the basics fuel and fire before you can jump to any conclusions. oh and fuel filters would cause the engine to run bad but not kill it all at once and keep it from starting. one way to rule that out is to turn the key one for 2 secs then off for 6 secs and repeat a few times this turns on the fuel pump for priming iu the system. if it still does not fire up then somethin else is going on other than the fuel filter.

SOURCE: Vehicle sputters, bucks, occasionally dies out, rich exhaust fume

The MAF sensor is the likely problem. Ca be clraned w/crc electrical cleaner only. Do not touch , rub,or use compressed air to clean or dry. It's located in the intake duct in one of the metal sections. The plug and wires will give it away. Good Luck-Ned-

SOURCE: 1993 ranger sputters until warm?

replace the Oxygen senson before catalytic converter this sensor tells the computer to send signal to fuel injectors to allow rich mixture upon start up for warm up then leans out mixture as it heats.

1985 Ford Ranger 2.3 starts and idles good. But when put in gear dies until it reaches full temp.

Hmm...........
1985..........
Probably carb? Automatic choke not working? Remove air filter and spray carb with cleaner, Make sure all parts move freely. With engine cold, check automatic choke position. Start and check function as it warms up.

I have an 86 ford ranger. After it worms up, it

I had a problem with my 86 bronco II, 2.9EFI. Found it to be the water temp sensor. To test, after warm up, unplug sensor and place a jumper wire between contacts on harness. Sensor is behind upper rad hose on manifold, two wire plug. Then test. Note: Rig will be HARD to start cold without the sensor plugged in.

Sounds like your fuel pump is going out on you. Check your fuel pressure. You should have 40 psi when the key is in "on" position. You should have no less than 5 psi under that when it's running.
