GLS V6 2.5L. Where is common low voltage ground from ECU located?

I belive it converges to a bolt on the firewall but I can't find it's exact location.

I have problem with my ECU.. a transistor inside was burnt up..What could have caused it..

Several things can cause a transistor to burn out. Water or moisture contamination is the most common. Also, voltage spikes in the charging system,low voltage due to poor or corroded grounds or loose connections,bad solder points due to age and vibration that creates excessive resistance on the circuit board.

Ground locations on a 2000 gmc jimmy

Wiring diagrams are not included in many of the repair manuals for newer cars and trucks. Dealers are often willing to print out the particular segments of wiring you are working on. Basic rules are: Battery ground should go to frame and best practice is to back of alternator as well. Back of engine block should have ground strap to firewall. Computer (ECU) must be well grounded, but this is usually done by the metal case it bolts into. Headlamps need a ground. Dash needs a ground. Tail lamps need a ground, etc.

When you replaced the alternator, did you also replace the voltage regulator? I have read that on this truck, the voltage regulator is internal to the ECU and is located on the firewall near the ignition coil. You may be able to install a separate, dedicated voltage regulator available at your local auto parts store. Please note that you may have to rewire from the ECU connector to the stand-alone voltage regulator. Good luck.

02 Nissan Altima fuel injector N4 has short with ignition key on, injector leak

I am going to assume that you verified this by unplugging the injector and seeing constant power across the pins in that connector, and capmparing to the another good injector. if you have not done so. that is your first reading to take with a meter.
a breif description of how it typically works:
nomally, there is a single common for all the injectors. typically, it is a positive signal energised by the ecm/ecu either directly, or via relay. and usually fused. sometimes, on v8, and some v6's there are 2 commons. then, each injector is individually actuated through the ecu.
next test- if you find the common positive voltage, then the other wire should read nothing with the engine not runing. do an ohm check to ground. you will likely find that n4 only is reading continuity on the non-common wire. trace the harness to the main harness plug. it may be a disconnect in the engine bay, at the firewall, or a complete run to the ecm. unplug it. it may require wd-40 and some massaging fennesse. force is not the first answer to pulling it apart, and the clip may not release normally, reqiring a pick in there to unlatch it. if you still have continuity, then you have a short in the harness grounding between the 2 points. if you do not, then trace the wire from the connection point you disconnected, at least 5 inches away. you can do a pinout check, to find the correct wire. test all to verify you have the correct wire and then you will cut this wire, if you know you can reliably re-attach the wires together. before you do this, if it is not at the ecm test the corresponding pin at the other connection you unplugged from, to make sure you are not reading ground continuity (you may need to find the ground pin in that plug, as it may be the same plug that feeds the ecm ground.) then, unplug the ecm, and re-connect the disconnect, if applicable, and re-check continuity. now, you move to cutting the wire, if the ground is only present with the ecm connected. plug the injector back in and turn the key on. if you receive close to common voltage on the injector side of the cut wire and ground on the ecm side, then there is an internal short in the ecm/ecu. if the system uses a common ground, then all of this is inverted, with the positive battery/ign. as reference, not ground

What are you trying to ground? If electronics, Any bolt attached to the frame of the car can be used as a ground. You can attach a closed loop metal contact to the wire and attach the bolt for a ground. Extra info, bolts that hold down your seats, firewall bolts and seat belt bolts are some common grounds.

I have a 87 ford mustang GT the problem i am having is that the fuel pump will not stop priming. We replaced the fuel pump and the relay. Someone said it may be the ECU. I do not know where the ECU is...

the ecu is located on the passenger side under the dash along the kick panel.the connector for the ecu is under the hood on the same side and it is held to the ecu that sticks out a little with a single bolt.this system used an 90 wire plug,and is bolted to the firewall with 2 bolts.

Changed engine and cant remember where the 2 ground straps were located

It is less important where, exactly, they get located, find similar sized bolts, somewhere.

What is important is to Guarantee good connection between Battery, engine, and body/frame. Grounds that are poor cause power to have to go through other stuff, like cables, etc. Grounds are the most difficult to diagnose. Just make sure you ground everything to everything.

In marine, and often Mercedes a dedicated ground is run to everything. Grounding is common problem with trailers. I run ground to everything...Life just works then.

It doesn't sound like a ground, but there does exist an engine to body ground strap the gets forgotten quite often. It is located at the rear of the engiine going from an intake manifold bolt tothe firewall. Check the charging voltage of the alternator at the battery posts. The charging rate should be between 13.6 to 14.2v. Remember this, The higher the voltage the lower the amps In turn the lower the voltage the higher the amps. If the alternator is charging at 14v, it should drop towards 13,even as low as 12v, depending on the battery and accessory loads.At 12v, the alt is pouring out some serious amps and running hard. This is not good for the alternator. That's the reason for 13.6 being nominal. If the alt puts out 15v, this is also harmful. Although you aren't getting the amps, the high voltage will burn up things designed to run on 12v, Like lights and radios, relays and such. I hope all this makes sense to you and is of help. Check the eng to firewall grd, Ck your charging voltage and give your battery ground a second once over at both of the cable ends, loosening the bolt on the engine end and making sure its clean. Low beam headlights don't work

There are fuses for left and right low beams. Headlights on low beam, use a test light, see if voltage on fuse circuit? If no voltage that will lead us back to dimmer switch or problem with wiring circuit from dimmer switch.
