Find the belt routing diagram (under hood or on radiator support). put a wrench on the center bolt at the idler pully push or pull to loosen belt.

are there any problems with the instrument cluster ? It may be the Smart Key Immobiliser Module , SKIM , not communicating with the security system , it will need a dealer equipped workshop to replace and reprogramme a new module as no diagnostic etc can be performed , as is the security system, hope this helps , the instrument cluster question is to help with a diagnosis, as this is associated with the SKIM failing

No. But you can cut the wire from the alternator that goes to the ECM and ground it. This will let the alternator charge when running. Just remember , that every time you turn the key, the alternator is one also. Meaning if you run your radio, the alternator is kicked on and get hot and die early.

I am assuming you installed a used or junkyard PCM into the vehicle. You are probably experiencing issues from a misprogrammed unit. Each PCM is programmed to the VIN-specific installed components of the vehicle. For example, my 1999 Dakota did not come with a factory anti-theft system installed. If I change PCMs to one that does, it will do exactly what yours is doing since there is nothing installed to tell the PCM that the anti-theft system is working. Many shops and most dealers can reprogram these units. They use the VIN from the vehicle and download the programming from the manufacturer and flash the PCM. Most DIYers do not have the equipment nor the subscription(s) to the manufacturers to get this data.

If you are referring to the switch on the top of the accumulator (firewall on passenger side), that is the a/c low pressure switch. It prevents the a/c compressor from engaging (through the PCM) if the pressure in the system is too low. It should have two wires, a black one that goes to ground, and a brown one that goes to pin 22 of connector 3 on the PCM.
