Either the tire pressure monitoring system detected excessively low or zero tire pressure and the computer has been programmed to set the vehicle into limp mode when that happens or a wheel speed sensor or another sensor detected an issue when the tire deflated and the computer sent the vehicle into limp mode.
One way or the other, once in limp mode there would have been fault codes generated and could have be read with a scan tool. They have probably cleared now.
