Key wont turn in ignition

How would you get your ignition to turn the engine over without a key?

If the ignition key is damaged or the lock cylinder is damaged and you can't get the key in ignition lock...start there. Is the key broken off in the ignition? Please provide some more information as the description of your problem doesn't make much sense.

if you mean the key won`t turn to start the car you may have a worn key and or ignition switch. try another key to see if its the key. also make sure there is not tension on the ignition by way of the steering wheel being turned in the full left or right turn causing tension on the ignition.

REPLACE IGNITION KEY CYLENDER/ WORE OUT

get a new switch

If the ignition wont lock in place,just redo it but this time you need to realize that you install the key cylinder with the key in the ON postion,straight into the lock cylinder housing,aligning the retaining tabs,on the key cylinder with the hole in the lock cylinder housing.Then turn the key to the off position,

sounds like either the key or the lock cylinder is worn out
if you have a spare key try it
if it wont turn it you need a new lock cylinder with new keys

WHERE YOUR SHIFTER IS YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT APART ..MAYBE THE RUBBER BOOT IS IT THE WAY,OR THE SHIFT LOCK SELINOID WHENT BAD

possibly your ignition dropped a pin, making another key won't help this since the inner workings of the switch itself are damaged or bad

The problem can only be one of three things. Steering column, ignition or key. When there is tension on the steering wheel it will prevent the key from turning. If the linkage in your ignition is bad it will prevent it from turning. If your key looks worn or marred (it doesn't always have to be bent) it wont turn.
