SOURCE: 1999 jeep grand cherokee / 4.0 L.

The door security has nothing to do with the jeep no starting. Check your electrical leads and also terminal leads that run to the battery. If you can, get your battery and your alternator tested to see if theyre any good. If your dash indicates the following while driving;" Transmission Overheat", then, with the engine running, check your transmission fluid level. If the transmission dipstick indaictes that the amount of fluid is low add maybe a quart to it. if you do this again and you find thats its doing the same thing, then there might be a couple of things wrong;

- 1. You may have a leak somewhere. Check your lines and check around the transmission pan. If you find a leak around the pan, than that means that you need a transmission filter kit. This includes a pan gasket and filter.

- 2. If you lift the hood and look over to the left (standing at the front of the car) and find the reserve tank to have a dark color liquid in there, open the top and see what color it is. If it smells and looks like Transmission fluid, then that means you have a busted radiatior. If you open the radiatior cap and look down into it and see the that the color of the fluid is a pepto bismal- looking color, then its deffinatley time for a radiator replacement and flushing of old fluid out of the system.

-3. Transmission is burning up gears and needs to be replaced. i dont know what jeep was thinking when they put a three speed transmission in a car of that size that idles high beacuse of the gears, when it should be a five speed that idles lower being thats a bigger size car.

-4. Check your fuel lines and your fuel filter.

-5. The sensor that sends a signal to the number one cylinder to fire may have gone bad and needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: 1995 isuzu trooper manual transmission

Hello smeet3992: The transmission uses 5w-30 for tempretures up to 95 degreese in tempreture. Uses 15w-40 for all tempretures greater then 50 degreese. If you are in an area that has extreme fluctuation in tempretures I would use the 15w-4o engine oil. I also senrt a picture of where to check the oil at. Make sure you pull the right plug. The reverse idler pin has the same size bolt head.

What should I do about my truck next?

The question is where to start. I had an International truck that was in flood waters high enough to fill several engine cylinders with water. It had sat lang enough to seize the newly rebuilt engine. The electronics were dead so I changed the ignition system cleaned the fuel tanks replaced the fuel pump replaced all fluids. Took out spark plugs and filled the cylinders with automatic transmission and let it set for a couple of weeks. Every couple of days I would try to crank the engine over using a crowbar on the engine and finally the engine started to rotate. Cranked all the fluid out of the cylinders it started and ran for several years.
I would start by hooking up a scanner and seeing what all of the sensors are reading. Especially those in the transmission and fuel system.

MyTaurus was recently submerged in waterin flood I tried to start it however engine would not turn over I put in a new battery and the engine still would not turn over how can I unseize the engine

Your engine is very unlikely to be seized and very likely to be hydro locked.
You will need to drain all oil from engine by undoing the sump pump then remove the air filter if it has a turbo then this will need to be removed ensuring there is no fluid in it undo all the injectors or spark plugs if carburettor and spin the engine over it should spin freely this will remove any fluid from the pistons there will be some fuel from the injectors so ensure the engine bay is clear when turning the engine over .
Put all back in place replacing the air filter this will allow you to turn engine over but you may still have issues with the electronics and getting it started
Good luck hope that this helps

Transmission fluid keeps emptying while motor oil keeps rising

Your radiator needs to be replaced. Chances are you have transmission and oil cooler lines going through them and there are mixing inside the radiator.

2002 saturn sl won't start, turn over but won't start

Done cars have a kill switch if they are low on oil. Check your oil. If the oil is good, it may be the ignition switch.

2002 Kia Optima runs great, transmission has started acting irradcally. it will shift and pull in gear for a short time after starting, but after a few minutes it fails to move the car. I've changed...

Keep driving it like that & it won't work at all

When ever you even think you have a transmission
issue, you immediately stop using the vehicle or you
end up rebuilding the trans, your call, your money & lots of it

Ask yourself ---Why would changing the fluid do anything?

Old oil out / New oil in ?

You change trans fluid because it breaks down from the heat
That is it's job,to remove heat or your trans fails

Trans & Power Steering get changed every 3 years & not
over 30,000 miles ever on ALL Vehicles

Transmission warning light coming on,possible problems are low oil pressure or no oil pressure how do i check which one it is and fix it? Thankyou

If you have an Automatic transmission. Lift the hood. Locate the Transmission dip stick. Start the engine and let the engine warm up some. then check the fliud level on the dip stick. On a Manual Transmission, locate the transmission under the vehicle and the fill plug (upper) and drain plug (lower) on the transmission. Remove the fill plug (upper) and see if fluid runs out. If no fluid runs out, add recommeded transission fluid until the fluid starts running out, the replace fill plug..

How do you change the transmission filter in a 2002 Saturn SL1 1.9 liter engine? Can an after market filter be used or is it best to get a dealer part?

saturns use a spin on transmission filter, similar to the motor oil filter.after-market filters like FRAM or PUROLATER are as good or better than dealer parts and likely less expensive.transmission fluid is drained from the plug in the pan, again, like the motor oil.

I have a 79 firebird that hasn't been used for years. i want to flush all the fluids add new ones, jump the car and see if it runs. i just don't know where to start. how do i do a fluid flush?

ok.. oil simply change it and the filter don't forget to add oil to rubber ring.. water jus unhook the hose at the bottom of the radiator using pliers and make sure you have a drain pan.. you can run water through it if it is unclean, otherwise you shouldn't need to flush, then reattach hose and clamp.. fill to top.. the water pump on the vehicle will need to be rotated or cranked to get water into the engine, and refill... be careful not to crank the water pump by hand because that will mess up the timing and you will need to redo that.. tranny fluid should not be changed because if there is a certain amount of metal shavings already in it clean fluid will ruin it, but i suggest checking the fluid level and maybe topping it off if needed there should be a bolt on the side of the transmission that you can take out and put your finger in the hole and the fluid should reach the hole and no lower if it pours out its fine let it level out too much tranny fluid is just as bad as not enough.. you will need to have the car on jack stands as level as possible to do this... also you can disconnect the fuel lines at the carburetor and connect a hose to it turn the key on and the fuel pump should pump out the old gasoline..
