My '86 Mazda B2000 runs great riding down the road. But when I prepare to stop and take my foot off the accellerator pedal the engine shuts down. The motor will start right back up as soon as I turn the key but if I don't keep the pedal pressed it will not run. I had the carberator rebuilt but that didn't help.

nothing . have a compression test done on the engine to determine the condition. have n exhaust test done to get the exhaust emissions reading to determine where the faults lay . Check the condition of the charcoal canister.
it sounds like it is starving for fuel, the fuel filter may be clogging up. when a fuel filter gets dirty and cuts some of the flow of fuel, it will stall out at stops. because the engine does not have the proper amount of fuel to keep it running. have a good day !
