Hi Greg
Individually...
Disconnect it's cable connector if possible.
Use a MultiMeter and a couple of jumper leads to +12v & ground.
Or the cheap tester below will help.

Sometimes this is better done on the bench where you can see whats going on.

Relays are just using a 12v low current electromagnet being used to close a set of internal switches (contacts) to supply 12v to the Fuel Pump. The Relay Contacts carry a higher current than th fine thin wiring used on vehicles these days.

The fuel pump can be tested & run without the relay to prove it is working. Use jumper wires to Battery.

The relay can also be actuated (tested) using jumper leads & a multimeter. When the internal coil is energised it simply pulls switch contacts closed. A Multimeter across the contacts pins will prove this.
Relay Pin Numbers
DIN 72552 defines contact numbers in relays for automotive use;

  • 85 = relay coil -
  • 86 = relay coil +
  • 87 = common contact
  • 87a = normally closed contact
  • 87b = normally open contact

Mercedes Fuel pump is not working.

1. Check the fuel pump fuse: Locate your vehicle's fuse box (usually found under the dashboard or in the engine compartment) and check the fuel pump fuse. If it is blown, replace it with a fuse of the same amperage. If the fuse is fine, proceed to the next step.

2. Check the fuel pump relay: The relay controls the power supply to the fuel pump. You can typically find the fuel pump relay in the fuse box or a separate relay box. To test the relay, you can swap it with an identical relay (such as the horn relay) and see if the fuel pump starts working. If it does, the relay is the problem and needs to be replaced.

3. Inspect the wiring: Damaged or corroded wiring can cause a loss of power to the fuel pump. Check the wiring leading to the fuel pump for any visible damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Repair or replace any damaged wires and clean corroded connections.

4. Test the fuel pump for proper function: If you have access to a multimeter or test light, you can test the fuel pump terminals for power when the ignition is turned on. You should see a voltage for a few seconds as the pump primes. If there's no power at the terminals, the problem could be a faulty ignition switch, fuel pump control module, or a wiring issue.

5. Faulty fuel pump: If all the above steps show that power is reaching the fuel pump, but it is still not working, the pump itself might be faulty and need replacement.

No fuel pressure in efi system

Either the fuel pump is not working, or the filter is totally blocked.
The fuel pump circuit needs checked to see if it's a wiring problem or a failed fuel pump. There will be (probably) a fuel pump fuse in your fuse block, and a fuel pump relay under the hood.
If you check the fuel pump wire for power at the gas tank connector while the engine is cranking over, and there is power there, and the ground for the pump is good, then the pump is not working and will have to be replaced. If you do not have power when cranking, the wiring at the fuel pump relay will have to be checked. Simple relay- has a power feed for the pump at one relay terminal (it is hot at all times), and a fuel pump wire to pump on another terminal (the power out for relay). When relay coil side is energized from a signal from computer, the relay contacts close and power is sent to the pump. The other relay terminal is a ground for the coil side of relay. Pull the relay out and you will see the diagram etched on it. If there is a fifth terminal, that could be a pump prime terminal, or a way to keep the pump running when engine is running through the oil pressure switch. But when cranking the engine, the computer will signal the relay to send power to the pump.

No power to the fuel pump have checked all fuses

There are 2 relays that control your fuel pump. 1 is a fuel pump relay and the other is a Auto shut down relay or ASD relay.

Drove to the store last night had no indications of any problems. Got in it this morning and it cranks over good but will not start? Here's things I have already checked/tested - fuses( coil, ignition, fuel...

If you turn the key from off to run ( do not start ) does the theft light go out ?
How did you check the fuel pump relay ? My 2001 at ~ 35K miles the fuel pump relay went out, I checked it by swapping the trailer tow adapter reverse lamp relay into the place of the fuel pump relay.
The thing I am drawing a blank on, and you seem to confirm what I think, is the fuel pump relay is removable in the '02. Must be the '03 when the fuel pump relay became integrated into the fuel panel ( non serviceable ).

If you jumper the fuel pump relay, does it turn on ( red line in picture below )

Truck will not start, has fire. relay ok. no trouble codes.

when you turn the key in 'on' position, do you hear the fuel pump hum? check under hood in black box,,fuses,,and relays. for bad fuse or fuel pump relay bad. try bumping fuel tank with something hard to see if fuel pump will engauge with key on. maybe bad pump. have you had off road? look for pulled plug from fuel pump underneath near gas tank.have you bent or damaged your igbition key somehow? the key sends a signal to your cars computer to engauge the pump and crankshaft sensor.but if you do have fire,,,it's a fuel problem, so you are on the right track. if nothing i've said helps, check for a bad fuel pressure regulator.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com!!

1997 Ford F150 Electric Fuel Pump will npt pump

Did you check the fuel inertia switch in the passenger side kick panel ?

The fuel pump is powered :
the fuse to the fuel pump relay.
The fuel pump relay to the fuel inertia switch
The fuel inertia switch to the fuel pump itself.

At the fuel inertia switch in the kick panel, power from the relay is the Dark Green w/ Yellow stripe wire and the pink w/ black stripe wire is the power. from the fuel inertia switch to the fuel pump.

If you jumper the fuel pump relay, you should hear it run. If not pull the fuel pump relay, and check the pins in the relay socket, pin 30 should be the power from the fuse.

If you have power at pin #30, jumper the relay socket as shown with the red line above, and check the dark green w/ yellow stripe wire at the fuel inertia switch for power.
Press the button on the top of the fuel inertia switch, and check for power leaving the fuel inertia switch on the pink w/ black stripe wire.

This is tests good, check for power at the fuel pump, same pink w/ black stripe wire.
Fuel inertia switch info is in the owners manual, If you did not get an owners manual with your truck ( purchased used ), you can download one from Ford :
