Set cruise on 72 and it smelt like it was going to catch fire burning order

Depending on how cold it is wherever the vents are located if they're underneath the crawl space or something it's possibly colder down there so in order for it to become 72 in your house it's going to have to determine how much it's going to take to put 72 in your home if it was burning at 72 and pushed it through cold vent piping it's not going to be 72 when it comes out your vent I believe this is normal hot air will not melt or catch linoleum on fire also check to make sure your vents are all clear of debris dust lint and things like that I wouldn't mess with your furnace adjustments you could be opening up a can of worms especially this time of year now if it starts to smell like fuel or it's sporadic then I would call a repairman

Never use a higher amperage fuse in place of smaller amperage fuse . Could cause electrical fire's , burn the vehicle up. Besides that fuse is a low voltage input to the BCM - body control module . That wouldn't be the problem anyway , cruise control is computer controlled . You don't have the knowlege to fix this , your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . They would hook up a scanner that can view data , read code's . All your doing is guessing an that won't fix it. You have no clue of the complexity of the computer systems on your vehicle .

Cruise control is a speed control system that maintains a desired vehicle speed under normal driving conditions at speeds above 40 km/h (25 mph). Steep grades may cause variations in the selected vehicle speeds.
The following are the main components of the cruise control system:
• The accelerator pedal
• The brake pedal position (BPP) sensor
• The body control module (BCM)
• The cruise on/off switch
• The + RES switch (equivalent to resume/accel switch)
• The - SET switch (equivalent to set/coast switch)
• The engine control module (ECM)
• The clutch pedal position (CPP) sensor, if equipped with a manual transmission
• The throttle actuator control (TAC) motor
• The vehicle speed sensor
The body control module (BCM) monitors the signal circuit of the cruise control switches, which are located on the steering wheel. The BCM relays the cruise control switch status to the engine control module (ECM) via the GMLAN serial data circuit. The ECM uses the status of the cruise control switch to determine when to capture and maintain the vehicle speed. The ECM monitors the vehicle speed signal circuit in order to determine the desired vehicle speed. The ECM uses the TAC motor in order to maintain the vehicle speed. Ignition voltage is supplied to the cruise control switch from the 2-ampere EPS fuse located in the integrated BCM fuse block. The cruise control function switches are arranged in a resistive ladder design, with each cruise control function switch having a different resistance value. The BCM detects a specific voltage value that is associated with the cruise control function switch being activated. When the normally open cruise control on/off switch is turned ON, the switch closes and the BCM sends a GMLAN serial data message to the ECM indicating that the on/off switch is active. Similarly, when the normally open + RES switch or the normally open - SET switch are pressed, the switch closes and the BCM detects the predetermined voltage signal on the cruise control switch signal circuit. The BCM sends a GMLAN serial data message to the ECM indicating that the + RES switch or the - SET switch is active. The + RES switch or the - SET switch will remain inactive when the BCM has not received the predetermined voltage signal from the on/off switch.

It seems that something was burned out trying to make the starter turn. The problem could be the starter and/or the solenoid.

Go to youtube and enter, "how to check a starter" you may have to remove it to check it. I could tell you how. But it is better if you see how it's done for yourself. Also check the fuses.

sounds like it could be a burn plug wire on the number 7 plug

Sounds like your clock spring may be going bad. The blinking cruise control symbol is a warning that you are traveling at a high speed. That is nothing to really worry about.

Ford Fire Recall Lawsuit

Ford Motor Company announced a massive safety recall on 1994-2002 vehicles to correct a problem that could cause the cruise control deactivation switch to overheat and create an underhood fire. you may want to look into this futher before messing with it,,,best of luck.

NOW I REMEMBER.. THEY HAD A RECALL ON THE CRUISE CONTROL ON THESE.. UN PLUG YOUR CRUISE CONTROL AND REPLACE THE FUSE. USE A 12 VOLT TEST LIGHT TO FIND THE FUSE . THESE TRUCK WOULD START ON FIRE, EVERY BUDDY WAS STINKING A BIGGER FUSE TO TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM THIS CAUSED THE CRUISE TO CATCH ON FIRE... NICE HUH. IF YOU DON'T UNPLUG THE CRUISE= DON'T PARK IT IN OR NEAR YOUR HOUSE !

You can get this info by using the year ,make and size of engine by calling Autozone If not they have a Chilton manual for it or can get it

You sould have recieved a "recall" notice in the mail about the cruise control for fire and failure issues. they are adding a fusable link where the cruise control harness connects to the brake master cylinder. if you have not had the recall performed yet you should SERIOUSLY consider getting it done, mainly so it doesnt catch fire, but "could" be the result of the failure you've been experiancing! btw, almost ALL Ford vehicles have been affected with the cruise control recall. hope this helps!

Take it into Ford. Fast. There was a recall on the cruise control modules failing and catching on fire. Seriously. They'll replace the module for free (or should). Probably worth a try-its better than your truck catching on fire.
