Electrical and shifting problem

It won't shift out of first gear and it doesn't want to start

from the sounds of it your transmission is going out. t would be a very expensive fix...

I agree with the suggestion to service the trans but no transX, just new fluid and a new fluid filter, if that doesn't help then you will need more seriou work.

hi,it seem your car is in emergency mode,you can check oil lever if deep stick is present,if not, better to bring your car to your dealer for proper diagnose,maybe erase fault only,ty

There is not much that can be done from the outside for this fault as it appears that there is a serious damage on the gear box, it can be related to a faulty linkage, counter gear, counter wheel or damaged parts. It might require that the box be opened , checked and overhauled without delay so as to cause further expensive damage. Take estimate and decide.

Gear shift moves but indicator doesn't change and transmission doesn't engage.
try disconnecting cable to transmission turn the shifter on transmission manually down there connect cable again start car try it if not try it again turn once then connect cable again then try it if not the transmission is not good

Won't shift out of park
1st Suggeston mke sure youare pressing brake pedal while trying to shift gears.
2nd Suggestion if this doesn't work check your neutral safety switch on transmision .

You mean the shifter works fine, but first gear won't engage? About all you can do for automatics is check the color and level of transmission fluid. If it smells burnt or looks dark or brown colored, a transmission drain and refill might restore it, and might not.
Also, it could be an electrical problem in the electronic shift mechanism. The dealer or a good shop would have to diagnose that.

Why wont car shift into gear
Hello and welcome to FixYa!

You may want to start adjusting the brake pedals. If it detects that you are not stepping on the brake then it won't shift into gear.
If the gear is moving but won't shift gears while running then you may want to start on replacing the transmission fluid. It can be burnt that's why it's not operating properly.

Just had both o2 sensors replaced and now the truck won't shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Evidently it had been slipping a bit before but now it won't shift into 3rd at all. The tranny is an E4OD......
O2 Sensors --- not related to shifting

New transmissions --- are only new once
When installed on the assy line

Has to be rebuilt if necessary

PO 147 ---O2 Sensor Heater (Bank 1 Sensor 3) don't have one of those
PO714 -- Trans Temp Sensor -heat for the slipping
PO 471 --- Exhaust Pressure Sensor -don't have that either

Need a new guy

I have a 2005 nisin frontier, the problem started with the over drive button on the shifter, when the overdrive is on every now and then it would **** hard goin into 3rd gear, so i just stopped using the...
This does sound electrical, it may be a sensor problem in the trany thats shorting or a selonoid that bad and sticking, the only problem is a scan tool will be needed so it can be hooked up and the readings watched as it messes up and then remove the valve body to test them, this sounds like its a bad converter clutch lockup selonoid but without doing tests and checking things its hard to say. the best way to do this is to have a trany shop test it, good day.
