Gauges not working, transmission too slow, battery discharged
Update: car powered with glp / gas. due to a battery discharged I cant test the engine, now with battery charged, the alternator was connected at the harness (bridge) and not be charging, then I connect the alternator to a positive from de battery, now is charging. I start engine in gas and its functional, but the trans is too slow, then using the lever I help the trans, but gauges are dead.

Sounds like an electrical short somewhere. I have a 1996 Olds Bravada that notoriously has seemingly random electrical issues. One such put the automatic transmission in "limp mode" whereby it would only go in 2nd or 3rd gear. Would not downshift into 1st or shift into 4th. The problem was remedied by simply powering the electrical circuit to the transmission from another circuit. This was shown to me by an ex GM engineer who said that these mid-90's trucks were bad for electrical problems.Hi Anonymous, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. check alternator wires for damage.your drive belt could be slipping.replace battery cables.check alternator fuse.code scan for pcm fault since it pcm controlled.

Check all your battery connections. Maybe not a good connection since your key doesn't turn on warning lights and gauges. See if your headlights work to verify a good battery connection.
Any chance you blew fuses? Like a maxi fuse for the ignition switch? Or for older vehicles that used a fusible link to connect battery power with the ignition switch. Keep diagnosing until you get power to the ignition switch (warning lights and gauges working with key ON).
Any chance your battery is totally discharged? Was the alternator working good when tested? If alternator quits working, engine and all electricals will run off the battery for a time until it is totally depleted, then will stall and won't have enough juice to even turn any lights on. Check battery voltage with a multi meter or voltmeter. A good, fully charged battery will show 12.6 volts. If under 12 volts, it may or may not have enough juice to start, but lights will still work some, though maybe very dim. .
this sounds like something is draining the battery like a bad alternator. if you install a new battery the car will run until the car drains the battery due to a bad alternator or bad wiring, these cars are all electronic so without a good battery you cant open door or start, take a look at battery and if it is low or dead again then have the charging system checked.
I believe your battery is not the problem. But have it checked. The slow crank-over is due to the anti-theft feature in your car. When the car senses a theft attempt, it reduces cranking voltage to your starter to around 7 Volts.
Some wiring is crossed that is telling the Brain that there is a theft attempt. There are only a few things which happen when you fill gas. The Emissions system is open due to the gas cap being off and the fuel sending unit is reporting to the fuel gauge. Possibly the fuel pressure regulator is feeling resistance due to the change in fuel volume.
Again, get a free battery test at Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys. I have not seen a problem like this in several years of working for Fixya. The battery is probably not low, but restricted by the antitheft. Yours is probably a unique condition.
Charge light could be due to Alternator starting to fail or maybe loose belt to alternator. Or loose connection at alternator or at battery. Check wires along the circuit path and make sure everything is tight. As for gas gauge, you may have a bad sending unit which is usually IN the tank or a bad connection between the unit and the dash. I'm not aware of a working gauge being a necessity for passing emissions but maybe so.
It sounds like the vehicle has stopped charging the battery.Charge your new battery first and see if it starts,or put a volt meter across the 2 teminals and read the voltage ,if it is below 10.6 volts the powertrain control module and the transmission control module will nt funtion due to low voltage. The alternator has an external regulator located in the powertrain control module, which regulates the voltage at 13.6 volts. If this is the case you need to test the alternator. You can take it off and take it to an auto parts store(they will test it at no charge),or you can get a scanner and full field the unit.Start there and let me know because the underhood fuse panel(pdc)could also cause problems.thank you Ramundoo
This problem can be tricky to solve... one thing I have run across is that some Cabrios have a factory fault that lets water leak though the firewall onto the fusebox! Needless to say this will cause any number of electrical problems due to the inevitable corrosion. The problem is fixed by inspecting under the hood directly above the fusebox (where the computer is mounted) Look for signs of debris or moisture. I have successfully repaired these with a good cleaning and the application of an asphalt based waterproofing membrane (unfortunately this was too late in some cases and neccesitated fusebox replacement!) Hope this helps... ;-)
