    ah, ASE site shows.
owners manual calls this relay a HBL
we dont have 98 opr. manuals, long gone.
now we know where it was seen, in this book.
the heated rear glass is and options
so others dont see the relay and get confused?
    solved , name.

the wire at or near the rear glass.
    is shorted to the body.
seen many do that, in 50 years.
    vast.
even more like that on convertible rag tops
the fuse saved you from the wiring fire.

USA car?
what engine , gas or diesel.,what size is it?
where is fuse located, Green = 30amp
in the cab, no ,no 30amp in cab. so is below.
or in the PCD box under hood,
here is PDC,
here is fuse f15, which i think is HBL
diesel HBL is f15
gas HBL is f11

fuse 11 is 3 up from bottom right. gas only.
fuse 7 is 30amp too in pDC
and runs headlamp controls or DRL, got DRL
fuse 8 diesel? see fuse 7 answer gas.
in canada, they have DRL , daylight running lights.
we dont.
but fuse 7 30a runs that.
PDC fuse 4 30am runs ASD and if blown diesel engine dies.

HBL is fuse 15 or F11
or is Fuse 7 or 8.
which blew, ive not a clue,

The HBL is wired different on diesel and gas.
so no country stated (usa, canada or export)
    no engine stated.

    HBL, heated back lid?

    _-__-___-_ Mar 23, 2016

so now i have it down to 2:
    rear glass heater
    or head lamp controls.
telling fuse location, matters, and not stated.
if in canada, the DRL modules love to burn up and blow the 30amp fuse. feed it.
fuses blow due to shorts, and stops the fire.

when fuse blows, does engine die?
    why not finish the story,
are there things that die besides fuses?

SOURCE: 96 jeep cherokee, replace cps and the engine control fuse

The guy at the garage today, said he went out and put a fuse in it and it started right up. Thats all he did for now. I going to have a closer look on the weekend. But, as before when I went 1/2 mile it would burn the fuse again. We will have to see if it does again, I espect it will. Any idea?

SOURCE: 30 amp fuse under hood

if the fuse keeps blowing chances are that there is a short in the circuit. check the harness related to fuel system.

30 amp starter fuse keeps blowing on 98 cherokee

you may have a short (verify the integrity of the insulation of the positive wire from that fuse going to the rear window defroster, check the relay & switch.) try to replace the relay.

Fuse IGE E blows everytime i start my vehicle

The starter and the fuse probably have nothing to do with each other... although it's POSSIBLE that your car (whatever it is) might have a starter relay that drives the starter solenoid, in which case I'd suspect the starter relay.

You'll need to track down everything powered by that fuse, find the offender (the one using too much current), and correct the problem.

Pwr surge took out alt, windows guages blinkers, wipers, heat and ac

Hi S, It seems to me that the surge may have been caused by the alternator before blowing. A short circuit may has caused the diodes to blow, which in turn will probably have been caused by a short circuit created when the radio theft took place. The first thing to do is isolate all loose cables and make sure that there are no internal shorts inside any auxiliary equipment. After making repairs to the alternator, or fitting a replacement, disconnect all connectors to switches and other controlled units such as cabin heating and ventilation systems, music, TV and navigation systems. The fuse box is located in the engine compartment. Check all for continuity and replace burned fuses and at the same time, check for any damaged relays. Once are you satisfied everything is as it should be turn the ignition key to auxiliary and check all cables for overheating. Connect each unit one at a time until a fuse blows or all are connected. If a fuse blows while connecting, replace the fuse, but leave that circuit disconnected and continue until all are connected or another fuse blows. Once the dangerous circuits have been identified, trace the fault either into the wiring harness or the units. Repair if possible or replace. Once that has been done, crank and start the engine. Check all circuits with the engine running and the park brake fully engaged. If the engine fails to start check the electrics which operate the starter motor. Hope this info is at least a little helpful. Regards John

1999 dodge ram truck 1500 4x4 worked fine park it and next morning tried to start truck but all bell and lights come on but 30 amp ignition run fuse keeps blowing and truck wont start ran fine when...

This 30 amp fuse, If it blows when cranking, it is usually the starter dragging, if it blows by just turning the key on it is usually the fuel pump drawing too many amps.
I hope this helps.
