Are you aware of the fact that your factory radio is connected to the class 2 serial data communication network . You need a interface module to hook up to aftermarket radios . If you don't use this interface module your vehicle will not start an run an the warning chimes will not work .
The audible warnings alert the driver of a system concern or a critical vehicle condition. The radio generates the audible warnings through the left front speaker. The radio receives audible warning requests via the class 2 serial data line. If the radio receives multiple audible warning requests, the warning with the highest priority sounds first. The following lists the audible warning priority and the pulse rate:

  • Jeff Armer Dec 11, 2015

The radio activates the fasten safety belt audible warning as requested by the body control module (BCM). The BCM sends a class 2 message to the radio indicating the chime frequency (slow rate) and duration (8 seconds). The fasten safety belt warning sounds and the fasten safety belt indicator illuminates when the following occurs:

    • The ignition switch transitions to ON.

    • The BCM detects that the driver's seat belt is not buckled (signal circuit is low). The IPC receives a class 2 message from the BCM indicating the driver's seat belt status.

If the seat belt is buckled when the ignition is turned on, the chime does not sound. If the seat belt is buckled while the chime is sounding, the chime stops. If the seat belt is unbuckled after the initial transition to ON, the chime does not sound.

SOURCE: installing after market stereo

Dave,

You will need to go buy a wiring harness adapter from your local Walmart (usually cheapest there) or Local Electronics place (ie Best Buy). The wire harness that goes out from the radio goes into the Adapter and the adapter plugs into the car harnesses. Also these Adapters come with the wiring diagrams for your vehicle. They typically run 10 - 15 bucks depending on where you get them. Thanks for using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC

SOURCE: aftermarket stereo wiring harness does not fit oem

Theres a standard amongst most stereos, so if these colors apply, then you will be right,
Red is Ignition power
orange is direct power
Black is earth
blue is for phone
White is for electric arial
then there will be four coloured wires with matching color trace wires, these are the speaker wires.
Hope this gets you going, good luck.

SOURCE: Im installing an aftermarket stereo in my 2002

This vehicle does not have a switched power suppy in the factory harness. The orange wire in the car harness is a constant 12 volts.
To resolve connect the 12 volt power supply from the head unit to a switched circut at the fuse block and this will resolve your problem.

Why wont radio turn off?

This often happens when people diy aftermarket stereo installation. Aftermarket stereos require both accessory and hot wires, while many auto wiring harnesses provide only hot leads. You must add an accessory wire from the fuse box to the stereo to prevent the battery from draining. If you are up to doing that, I can provide instructions.

How do I fix the clock display on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire?

It appears to be that the radio clock display has malfunctioned, and is due for a replacement radio, which could be an aftermarket or oem radio, maybe found at a junk yard.

Tools required for oem replacement radio, torx keys set.

Before working on the radio or other electronics, disconnect the battery cables with 8mm wrench.

Replacing the oem radio is much easier, if you obtain oem radio, compared to aftermarket radio, due to being direct fit.

The radio is same for 1995 to 1999 Pontiac Sunfire and the Chevy Cavalier, regardless of sub models, such as SE,GT, VL,VLX,Z24. etc.

Parts needed for the the aftermarket radio install :Stereo assembly, stereo wiring harness adapter, radio antenna adapter, and dash install kit.wiring diagram for the wire colors / functions, along with tools, such as torx key set, screwdrivers, wire crimper, wire stripper, double ended wiring connectors, hair dryer.

The oem stereo removal video is for the 2000 to 2005 Sunfire / Cavalier, but are the same or very similar procedures.

05 grand what do i need to install a aftermarket radio

Get a wiring harness adapter kit (about $10) from a stereo shop. It has harness plugs that will plug directly into your harnesses in the dash, and has color-coded wires that you will color-match to the wires on the aftermarket deck's harness. You may need an antenna adapter as well. If your stock stereo face is taller than the aftermarket one, you'll need a dashboard adapter kit to take up the extra space.

I tried to install an aftermarket stereo in my 2005 jeep grand cherokee but it didnt work because i had the wrong wiring harness. but when i tried to put the factory stereo back in it wouldnt work either....

Check that the yellow and the red wires have power while accessories is on, using a test light or multimeter. If they both have power, check earth connection.

I need electrical plan for pluging my radio ,for toyota echo 2005

If you are attempting to install an aftermarket radio Don't butcher the plugs on your Toyota ... simply go to a car stereo shop and buy an adapter plug for $10-$20 then wire it to your new radio ... then just plug them together (the wires on the adapter are marked) You'll likely need a dash kit too ... save yourself from a lot of frustration time and money! ....

Installing an aftermarket CD player.

Go to a stereo sales & installation shop, or even auto parts places usually have them now too, and get an adapter harness for your particular vehicle. They plug directly in to your existing harness, then you simply wire your new stereo to it,via directions. Few bucks now, will save hours of aggravation later,.and if you decide to sell vehicle later, and put old one back in, it's all there to plug back in, nice & clean.
