You will have to copy the diagram and paste it to MS paint to zoom in on it. The file is otherwise too large for the site.
SOURCE: how do you replace the light bulb in the clock
It's not as bad as it sounds if it like my 2004. The clock is accessed under the dask glove box/flipper compartment. You access it by lifting out the rubber tray/mat. That will expose a bolt/nut that holds the plastic shell in place. Take off the nut then gently pry out the tray, starting in the front and working along each side towards the back. The clock back is just underneath this. The bulb looks like a small hex bolt and is removed with a 6 mm socket (you don't need to remove the white plastic backing). Once you've done this, just put everything back in revers order. It took me 20 minutes all together. The hardest part was paying $13.75 for the tiniest lightbulb I've ever purchased. :-) This is a link that someone else posted which shows some pictures of what it all looks like. It's well worth the effort, especially since my wife is much happier now (and it's $47 cheaper than what the Mercury dealer quoted me to replace it). Good luck!
