SOURCE: cutting off while driving

Try checking fuel pressure again with a guage on the fuel rail. If you still notice the pressure is low and you know the fuel pump is good, the fuel pressure regulator may be bad. Sometimes you can tell by unplugging the vacuum hose from it and if you see gas that means the diaphram is leaking. If everything checks out with the fuel system a bad EGR valve or EGR valve solenoid can cause cars to sort of stall under half throttle. Good luck and keep me posted. SOURCE: Volvo 850 oil pressure sending unit

It's on the engine, right next to the starter, it has one wire going to it. You don't need to drain the oil. If the light is coming on, you may have bad seals in the oil pan, a fairly common problem, but replacing the switch is a good fisrt step.

SOURCE: Leaking oil from oil pressure switch

I've seen pressure switches rust out and shoot a steady steam of oil out of them, so yes it could cause you to loose two quarts of oil. Book does not mention starter removal:
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4. Disconnect the switch electrical lead and unscrew the switch. To install:
  5. Coat the first two or three threads with sealer. Install the switch and tighten until snug.
  6. Attach the electrical lead.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Connect the battery cable and fill the engine with oil.

95 caprice check gage light goes on oil pressure drops but when i press the gas it goes back up and light goes off any ideas

1st, do not drive this until you are sure the oil pressure is ok, have the pressure verified with a mechanical test gauge, if it is ok the sending unit for the electric gauge is likely defective.

Think the oil pressure switch keeps the fuel pump running once started. Suggest replacing Oil pressure switch. And no it won't effect oil pressure reading when it goes bad. The switch is a safety device. When you roll it over and the oil pressure drops the switch cuts off the fuel pump. Neat huh? Need some good feedback Thanks!

I have a 94 caprice classic that wil crank but it wont turn on. It just got a new ignition and key for it and it still is doing this problem. it says press key fault and low oil pressure then it shuts off....

You vehicle is equipt with a fail safe switch incase your oil pressure is low it shuts off the fuel pump, More likely your oil pressure switch will need to be replaced, its 2011 relace the oil pressure switch more likely the sensor itself has failed,(oil breaks plastic after awhile,) make sure you have motor oil in the crankcase check the level,

I have a 95 caprice lt1 motor how will can tell if i need fuel pump.my car cuts off when i drive it for while or i try to start it after i cut the car off and the engine light comes on and both fan come on

fans coming on is a system check. first have the computer scanned to make sure no codes are set causing this. have fuel pressure checked. check the relay for the pump. not seen many fuel pumps go and stop intermittently usually they freeze and may start once or twice but just die and dont come back. with a pressure gauge connected see if the problem will occur again while the gauge is connected and loss of fuel pressure falls off. hope this helps

Not getting start

On some cars, if the oil pressure goes to 0, the circuit to the electric fuel pump is disabled. You need to find out why the oil pressure went to 0. It may be a switch or the wiring, but if the oil pump went out, this feature saved your engine.
