Buy only quality brand gas like Shell and add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner during your fill up, after 1-2 tanks if the problem persists then you can eliminate a problem with the gas or dirty fuel injectors. At this point you should have replaced the air filter and done 2-3 oil changes, sounds like the battery and starter are fine. Track what you put in the tank and then go back to complain if you still have a problem.

Hi,
Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".
Hard starting could be caused by a number of faults such as weak battery corroded/loose battery terminals, fuel delivery issues and others which may include as you posted the MAF sensor. In my country however, most Kias have a peculiarity. They like to be well warmed up (even if it is hot here). Hard starting specially after short hops/trips is actually the ECU/ECM/Control Module or the car's computer getting mixed sensory inputs. The corrective action is to warm up the car fully before using. In some instances, it may also be required to reset the computer by removing the negative battery terminal for a few minutes. Pls bear in mind that some alarms are triggered this way and/or some car stereos would require a security code if the battery is removed.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Couple of things to try.
1. Check that the battery connections are both clean and tight on the battery.
2. Check water level in the battery is above the plates that you can see in the filler holes.
Caution:
(Handle the battery with care as the water in the battery has been charged and becone sulphuric acid which will burn your skin. Do not get this in your eyes.)
3. Turn the headlights on then start the vehicle, and if:
a) the lights dim the battery is not connecting properly or faulty, or:
b) the lights stay on full it would the starter motor relay or solenoid (part of the starter motor).
