1 Place your key into the ignition of the PT Cruiser. 2 Turn the key to the "ACC" or "On" position, and turn on either your headlights or parking lights. 3 Use the fingers of your left hand to rotate the center portion of the multifunction lever upward to make the dashboard lights brighter. As you rotate this portion of the lever upward, you will notice that the odometer and radio will light up. At the farthest setting, the interior lights will illuminate. Thanks
Press and release the trip/reset button until the oil life message is displayed. Then press and hold the trip/reset button until and chime is herd 5 times and reset is displayed in the message center. When the system is reset the odometer will be displayed in the message center.Turn the key to the off position. When you turn the key on if the change oil message is still there it did not reset.Retry again.Hope this helps.Good luck.

It is behaving like a major electrical fault. Check the BIG fuses in the engine bay fusebox. After this - check that the ignition switch is supplying a switched live feed when in the "on" position.
It could be a faulty switch contact. Possible if you have uprated lights somewhere.
To reset your maintenance reminder system (even if the light hasn’t come on yet), you’ll need to turn your key to on (but don’t start!) and make sure your odometer is on TRIP A. Then key off. Press and hold the Odometer/Trip button. While holding down on the button, key the ignition to on (Don’t start the engine!) The display panel will count down from “------“ to “-“Continue pressing the button until the Trip A is displayed. After this step, you are done.
Turn the ignition to position 1
Push and hold trip reset while holding.
Turn to position 2 hold trip reset till the service light flashes 3 times and then release.
You should hear a beep to let you know it is reset.
It might take you 2 times sometimes.
If you have the message in the text window the little triangle in the center of the speedo assy. will flash.
Also another trick to help you is when the milage returns the light should be reset.
most probable cause could be a faulty ignition switch. Does the lights on the dash come on when you turn the key to the on position ? Do they turn off when you turn the car to the start and are about to crank the engine ? If that does not happen you will have to replace the Ignition switch. They don't have a fuse for the dash lights.
as long as the srs light is not on the srs system is functioning properly. There is a passanger seat recognition senser and some vehicles are equiped with baby smart-which disables the passanger front air bag when a mercedes child seat is placed on the passanger front seat. More than likley the airbag is being manually switched off. there should be a place on the dash or center console to place the mechanical part of your smart key into and turn the air bag on or off.Once the system is reactivated clear the message in the cluster or turn off your ignition and remove the key and then reinsert key and turn on-this should clear the memmory of the cluster and your message center should not display any warnings
