Turn the key on and make sure the blower motor is working. It doesn't matter what speed. Turn the key off. Pull the hvac1 fuse out of the under hood fuse box. Wait five minutes. Reinstall the fuse. Turn the key on, do not start the engine or touch the heater controls. You should hear the heat swiping through the different modes. After a couple of minutes it should stop. Turn the key off then start the vehicle.
It may take several tries but eventually it should recalibrate.
If you only get 1 click per key turn, sounds like the copper contact plate in the starter solenoid is worn. If you keep trying to start it and it eventually turns over click after click, then it more than likely time for a starter, or a starter rebuild if you're handy. The kits are available online for under $40
sounds like a glow plug problem,if it starts o.k. when warm, but not when cold, does it smoke a lot when trying to start it cold,if so i would say your glow plugs are either burned out or theres no power to them when you turn on the key,do you see the glow plug light on the dash,it may light, but that doesn,t mean the glow plugs are getting power
anne, it sounds to me like dampness in the ignition process, if the engine is turning over at the turn of the key, then check the rubber ring seal inside your distributer cap(thats the coloured plastic cap with all the leads to the spark plugs) if its perished or showing signs of distortion, replace the whole cap. if its seems ok then try starting your engine at night or at least grey dark, open the bonnet and watch for sparks coming from any of the HT leads ( cable like things) that go to the spark plugs. If present either spray with "sparkseal"(short term solution) or replace the leads.Try this and if it doesn,t solve it , get in touch ok?
