My 2015 subaru outback 3.6 r makes a clicking sound when I floor the acceleration and it clicks while accelerating.

  • Greg Nov 13, 2015

It's not transmission it's only when I floor it and it sounded like the traction control trying to cut out the power so I shut of the traction control and it still made the sounds it's not a bad clicking that sounds horrible it's just sounds like the tire rod is slipping or something

If you ever have an oil leak it really should be fixed right away unless this happened all at once. Go to a local mech or if there is an Autozone around go there and have them check the Engine Light code for you for free. You will have more info to work with.

SOURCE: Cause of noise in front differential of 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback.

there is a plug on the shaft-side of the differential. Using a ratchet remove the plug and with the engine OFF, stick your finger inside the hole and you should get fluid just below the threads of where the plug goes in.

SOURCE: Rattling sound when accelerating on 2007 Forester

On mine, I got under there and there are rocks rattling in the heat shield. There are factory made holes in it, and the rocks sit in there like eggs in a carton and rattle when the engine hits a certain vibration frequency which is basically when it is at a stop light or idling. The repair shop wanted to charge to cut them off but I think I am going to drill bigger holes so the rocks fall out, as they are pretty tiny.

SOURCE: loud clicking noise which the clicking noise getss faster as i accelerate

From what you are describing it sounds like it must be a valve lifter sticking. Try putting a cup of transmission oil in your crankcase, or pick up some suitable additive from your local parts store. I wish i could hear it and give you a better idea. Maybe let them listen to it at the parts store, and they can determine if it's a lifter or not. Let me know how you make out.

Not enough information.

Subarus are tough. But, you have to take care of them. Had a 99 Outback went 300k miles. Have a 01 VDC just flipped 175k. NO major issues.

If the light is flashing it means the engine has a misfire that can damage your catalytic convertor which is very expensive. A tuneup might be in order if its never been done, but I have personally seen many bad timing belts and fuel pumps that have gone bad on those vehicles also.

1998 Outback SUW Auto 2.5 Accelerate, relay clicking sound

currently, I have the same type of problem with my98 legacy outback limited w automatic. The clicking on mine is definitely the fuel pump relay which is to the left of the pedals under the driver side dash panels. It is above the fuse box and I had to remove the fuse box to get my hand up there to feel what was clicking. My problem is more prevalent when the car is cold. Things that have been diagnosed and replaced are: fuel pump, fuel pump relay (heavy duty), ignition relay(heavy duty), ECU, TCU, alternator, ignition coil, and fuel filter. I've had my car in the shop a few times and my mechanic is stumped. He's had it hooked up to the computer and checked all of the circuits that can affect that relay. It's very hard to diagnose because it is so intermittent. The only thing that ever changed the problem was a used ignition control module(possibly a bad one) which made it click a lot more. I am going to see if Subaru can test the ignition control module because they, many times, do not give you any codes and they do very weird things to the way cars run. I hope one of us finds the answer to this problem.

1997 subaru outback make clicking noise on in reverse. Also, sometimes when the car is turned off, the car lurches a bit

does it click while reversing straight or while turning? Sounds like a stick shift. Lunging probably due to e-brake needing adjustment(if stick shift). If your car only clicks while turning in reverse you need new front axles and can probably drive that way for a while
