This info is totally bogus.You obviousely have never changed a water pump on a 6.6 liter Duramax Diesel engine.1st off it isnt belt driven it is gear driven from the drive train inside the engine.You have to remove the fan shroud,clutch fan assem.,and harmonic balancer as one of the mounting bolts is behind the balancer.Also remove the left side inner fender for easier access.

Engine Coolant Loss with No Visible Leaks (Reseal Injector Sleeve)

Some owners may comment on engine coolant loss with no visible leaks. Excessive white smoke or a coolant type odor coming from the exhaust pipe, along with low coolant levels, may indicate coolant in the combustion chamber.
Cause
Condition may be caused by engine coolant entering the cylinder due to a dirty or damaged seal between the fuel injector sleeve and the cylinder head.

If it's black smoke, you could have a faulty or dirty EGR valve and may not be closing 100%. Remove the EGR valve and clean it with spraying carb cleaner and reinstall after inspecting the valve can move without any binding. Goo luck and hope this helps.

Enjoy this...jack up truck, remove tire, remove plastic cowling and expose front right wheel well.you may want to wash this side of engine at this point. Remove battery cables, remove the 13 mm nut and 8mm nuts on the solenoid. take a 15mm socket and remove the upper aand lower holding bolts. Use an extra long extension for the lower bolt. Ratchet out in front of the A-arm. Dislocate the starter from the fly wheel side of starter. wiggle,jiggle and point the starter gear at a 45 down and PULL starter out and down.
