SOURCE: engine blowing oil from oil filler cap

I had the same problem. I changed the pcv valve and checked the hose. It still did the same thing. Then I checked the metal tubing that the hose connects to and found it was full of hardened gunk. I sprayed PB Blaster into the tube let it soak for awhile. Then took an old choke cable, put it on a drill and ran it into the tube like a drain snake. It took a while of doing this over and over but eventually got it cleared out. Now, no more oil all over the engine and hood compartment.

SOURCE: Hesitation taking off from complete stop in my 04 Dodge Durango

it could be several things but with out proper diagnostic equipment its pointless to get into it, some times its best to bring it to the dealer, they work on their vehicles more than other shops and know them better as you already know your EGR was changed cost you money and its still the same.hope this helps you

2004 dodge durango 5.7 hemi runs real rough white smoke comes out then blows oil cap off.

Ah oh..white smoke is water in the cylinder and cap blowing off is compressed air in the crank case..sounds like you have a blown head gasket or intake or both...have your radiator and block pressure tested..if gasket is leaking it will fail to hold pressure.. Check your oil for water sometimes a bad intake gasket will let water in the oil.good luck..

2002 dodge durango oil cap

In my 97 grand cher, 318 and my 05 grand cher hemi, it was just a simple counter clockwise spin until it was out. I had 2 caps fail in the 97. They would just spin and click like an over tightened fuel cap, just that the oilcap was doing it backwards. I had to take the cap apart, piece by piece, VERY carefully not dropping anything into the engine. Eventually making my way to the part that threads into the valve cover. It looked like a blower motor fan because of the way it was shaped, like the vented "squirrel cage" but much smaller. I just grabbed a part of it with a needle-nosed pliers. Squeezed with one hand, open palmed hit the handle and that gave enough to bite and twist... Taaah Daaaah!!! Replaced the cap and was good to go for around 100k before I had to do it again. It sounds a lot harder than it was and on mine, the internal parts COULDN'T have fallen into the engine unless I broke that last squirrel cage looking part! I hope all this helps you out! Good luck!

What kind of oil do i put in my truck

It should be indicated on the oil filler cap on the oil filler tube. I would check with an auto parts store where you buy motor oil.

I did a Google search and 99% say 5W 30. I have a Dodge Nitro and use 5W 30. Most new engines are designed to uses lighter oils for better starting during cold conditions.

Where is the EGR Valve on a 2004 Dodge Durango Limited, V8, 5.7L Hemi? Is a hard operation to replace?

Have not replaced the EGR on my 04 Durango as of yet, but if you look into the the passenger side front fenderwell you will see part of it. Usually 2-4 bolts and the harness connector are all that is required.

Chrysler EGR valves are not known for their reliability.
