My son bought the car a couple of weeks ago & said the ac worked fine. After I flushed out the cooling system & replaced the thermostat I ran the engine to burp the cooling system. After the engine was running for about 3 minutes I heard a weird noise under the passenger side front fender. When I looked to see what the problem was I saw that the ac compressor was locked up.The ac clutch & the pulley was locked up. When I did a trouble shooting check I found out there was no Freon in the system.hence the problem. I'm up to date on replacing & charging the ac system. Can I repair/rebuild the ac compressor or do I HAVE to buy another one? My son drove the car to work one time(about 30 miles round trip)and said the ac worked fine. Thanks for any help.
I don't know if my air condition services were cheating me but I had twice problem with the compressor and after two different checkups both time they told me I had to install a new compressor. and that repairing it was not a good idea.
Testimonial: "U can repair or rebuild an ac compressor. Which one would U pick. (1) buy a brand new one. $400 to $700 (2) Buy a refurbished one around $100 with a one year guarantee. (3) Just repair the problem. (4) Rebuild the ac compressor completely for around $300. If U have common sense U will know which one to pick. Hope this helps."
Well, the refurbished one for 100$ with a year warranty looks quite interesting if you have some good reference from those people douing that refurbishing job..
They never offered me a refurbished compressor when did those repair jubs but knowing abous some dishonest mechanics, maybe they installed a refurbisehed one
