Code P0327 indicates that the readings from the #1 Knock Sensor circuit are too low, is outside of its operational window and malfunctioning. Symptoms

The Knock Sensor (KS) is a tuned accelerometer on the engine which converts engine vibration to an electrical signal. The PCM uses this signal to determine the presence of engine knock and to retard spark timing.
Removal & Installation

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the intake manifold.
  3. Remove the bolt and the Knock Sensor (KS).
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure and tighten mounting bolt to 15ft. lbs. (20 Nm).

My car is misfiring


I own a 2000 avalon and had a similar issue, rough idle especially when stopped, car felt like it was going to stall. I had a couple error codes which included one of the o2 sensors and knock sensors. I replaced the pcv valve , and o2 sensor, both easy fixes, but tue knock sensor is in the top half of the engine. A defective knock sensor may cause engine detonation or reduced spark advance and fuel economy. When a knock sensor is removed and replaced, the sensor must be tightened to its specified torque. If the knock sensor is installed tighter than it should be, it may become too sensitive and provide an excessively high voltage signal, resulting in more spark retard than required. When the knock sensor is installed looser than it should be, the knock sensor signal will be lower than normal, resulting in engine detonation.

To replace the knock sensor:


  • Disconnect the knock sensor wiring connector.

  • Then, unscrew the sensor.

  • Remove the knock sensor.

  • Reverse the procedures to install the part.

I replaced the knock sensor, what else could be causing acceleration problems on hills?


The knock sensor code does not always mean the sensor is faulty.
The sensor picks up noise and vibration in the engine such as a spark knock would generate, and the computer slows down the spark timing to fix it. If the noise or vibration continues, the code is set.
Could be a noisy valve, or a problem with the crankshaft or other component.

P0333 - Knock Sensor 2 Circuit High Input Bank 2. The knock sensor is attached to the cylinder block. It senses engine knocking using a piezoelectric element. A knocking vibration from the cylinder block is sensed as vibrational pressure. This pressure is converted into a voltage signal and sent to the Powertrain Control Module or Electronic Control Module.

The code is triggered by an excessively high voltage from the sensor is sent to Powertrain Control Module or Electronic Control Module.

Possible Causes:
- Knock sensor circuit short to GND.
- Knock sensor circuit short to PWR.
- Knock sensor circuit open.
- Damaged knock sensor.
- Powertrain Control Module

Possible Solutions:
- Repair or resecure harness or connector
- Replaced knock sensor

I have an engine code PO332 knock sensor 2 circuit low imput bank 2 what is this problem .the car is a 2001 gmc yukon xl .


The most likely cause of your code is a bad rear knock sensor. You should check the knock sensor wiring harness for corrosion. But if that checks out the sensor will have to be replaced. The knock sensor is under the intake manifold, although it's not too difficult to remove. Both knock sensors should be replaced along with the wiring harness, just because of labor involved in gaining access to the sensors. You could try clearing the code, it may stay off for a long time.
