Question about 2002 Ford Taurus

Why is battery draining ford 2002 Taurus SES

Check engine light has been on for several years, had it cleared once but came back on but still ran fine. Over the last year have had passenger floor board wet after heavy rain. Over last several months odd things happening with warning lights especially after it rains. Shows doors open kept locking and unlocking door after stopping 3 times and open close all doors and trunk finally works and lights go out. This has happened a few times now. Emergency brake light on even though not engaged. Would go out then back on then finally went out and stayed out. Oil light will come on, check oil is fine. Then light goes back off. Now gas cap light came on even though gas cap is locked. Gas cap light has stayed on. About 3 months ago, battery dead. Jumped, started right up. A week later, dead again, jumped, had battery checked. Tested fine, took to mechanic explained what was happening they said alternator bad. They ordered one was not the right one, ordered a 2nd one also not the right one. Mechanic sent picture and finally received the one that mounted the same as mine. Evidently there are 3 listed for my car and mine was the most expensive. Mechanic said had something to do with voltage? $400 for part and labor. Ran fine for almost 2 months then dead again, jumped and 3 days later dead again. Back to mechanic they said alternator bad and replaced again at no charge. Not even 2 weeks later dead again. Had not driven for approx. 5 days took longer to jump but did finally start. Need to go back to mechanic. I still think has to be electrical prob as something keeps draining battery. Need to go back to the mechanic. Any ideas? I feel like I am doing research for the mechanic but need to get this corrected. Car has 95,000 miles.

Think u should git anotht mech. View a bad batt can ruin an alternator. Moisture in a car can cause corrosion and messup electrics. The main wire that gos from bac of alt to batt is old and has alot of resistence..changeit today. Also unplug computer clean connections just to rule it out. The wire tho is factor..its stoppin rite flo like water inapipe

Remove negative cable from battery, connect a test light to negative terminal, opposite end off light to negative battery post. ( let sit for 3 to 5 minutes). Then start pulling fuses, when the light goes out that's your bad circuit. God-Bless! Its worth a try.

I have a 2001 dodge durango, had to replace ignition cylinder last year, ran fine but now security light stays on and the car starts and shuts off the key cylinder was from O'Reilly and it wasn't for anti...

Shut the hood, make sure the back hatch is shut tight. Lock all the doors. Walk around and make sure they locked. Open the drivers door with the key. This should clear the security. If not lock it again and try the passenger side door. Reach in and unlock the drivers door. If it cleared then. Replace the drivers door latch on the back side. Inside the door.

Engine wont turn over

You have asked a question which cannot be answered without a LOT more information. Like what do you mean, won't turn over? By hand? or by starter? And if starter, have you checked all electrical start systems? Have you TRIED turning it over by hand?? You should have done that FIRST before you ever tried to start it.

If you care about the condition of the engine after 12 years, you have a lot MORE work to do than worry about whether it will crank over. I had the same situation last year with a car that had sat for 10 years, and I worked on it about 2 weeks (off and on) before I ever hit the starter. (Hint: you do NOT want to suck in 12-year old gas and 12-year old oil. Another hint, pull all the plugs and squirt light oil - Marvel Mystery Oil, drain ALL the gas, oil and coolant and replace.) Oh, and by the way, when I finally hit the starter, it fired right up. Now get to work and check back in 2 weeks.

I have a 2002 gmc sierra 1500. My check engine light is on auto zone diagnostic said fuel pressure sensor. I had alternator replaced new last year. I need inspection done now. Can you help me? Travis

Sounds like you need to get the pressure sensor checked out.
If that is the problem, once it is replaced you would have the code cleared and the check engine light should stay off.

The car was hestitating so I changed the fuel filter and now the check engine light is on. Why is the check engine light on?

Bad gas isn't too likely

Sea Foam is a waste of your money

You don't diagnose & make repairs by adding
a Genie in a bottle

You have an OBD Check Light on,so why have you
not retrieved the codes & diagnosed from there?

If you run the fuel pump dry you can ruin that
It depends on fuel to cool & lube it

Fuel filters don't fix a thing either, they filter fuel & last 3 to
6 years with todays plastic fuel tanks that have little debris
vs the old steel tanks of 30 years ago

Once you get the codes you will find you have cylinder misfires,
bad ignition coils
The oxygen sensors get replaced at 100,000 miles, that is another
Have to clean the MAF Senser at least once a year

1987 Fiero GT automatic trans. Won't turn over-ran fine the day before. Even with a jump nothing works, radio, lights, break lights. There is no click or anything when the ignition is turned even the...

So no power anywhere? Nothing at all? I'm assuming the battery is fine since it ran the day before.

This actually happened to me one time in my fiero

What is happening is no power is getting to the car at all, no power is reaching the engine, lights, interior, etc.

This simply or not so simply means there is a severed connection from the battery.

1) Check BOTH positive and negative connections, make sure the posts are clean and make a solid metal-to-metal contact and see if there is power yet.

2) Check the power junction area (or whatever it's called) in the engine bay (on the passenger side wall near the battery). There are red wires
and such which supplies the car with power in this junction area attached to posts and inside of black plastic connectors. Look for worn or severed wires which may have come loose over the years.

When this happened to my fiero, one of the wires corroded and came loose from the post where it was bolted on and attached to other wires.

Just reconnect the loose wire(s), you may have to crimp new ends or whatever, but that should fix it.

If not, start hunting for where the 12v supply from the battery is cut off. Use a multimeter and good luck!

Check engine light stays on and when Im driving it feels like ,y truck is jerking like its running out of gas so I replaced the oxygen sensor last week and it ran fine all week until Friday it started...

Is there any way you could find out what year and model it is, what the engine size is, which code number is stored in the computer causing the engine light (parts stores will scan it for free). Do you know if the distributor cap and rotor, plug wires, fuel pump or filter have ever been changed. These were very common problems on GMC vehicles
