1997 ford escort quit shifting onto overdrive

The OD solenoid in the transmission or the transmission control module is defective. It's also possible the torque converter clutch plates are worn. That's where over drive comes from

Hi, I have a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 with a service engine soon light on and it won't shift into overdrive... Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

I would got to autozone or advance auto parts and have the codes read, they will do it for free, it will give you an idea of where to start looking, could be as simple as just changing a sensor.

1999 Escort ZX2 idling rough & not shifting in to overdrive

This could be caused by several things. Bad MAF sensor, TPS could be defective. You need to have the vehicle scanned for codes. You can have this done for no charge at AutoZone.

overdrive allows the engine to run at lower RPM's , which increases the fuel
