Without knowing what the hoses go to, this is a guess.
If there is no vac on the ports at idle, they usually go to the Evap system and the smog pump or EGR valve.
There may be partial vac on those ports at 2000 RPM.

There is vac at idle. wen hooked up it lowers the idle and misses acts like it wants to die or does die so i unhooked them and it solves it. Just wonderng how important they are . Thanks

My guess is they go to the MAP sensor and the EGR control. If one line goes to the MAP sensor disconnecting the line should turn the check engine light on. Pulling the lines off allows extra air into the intake so you could have rich injectors or some other fuel problem.

I would guess one of three things is your problem . 1) is as mentioned by greg_margo is the egr could be stickin or not getting vaccum .2) is the iac ( intack control valve) located n your tbi carb base right rear corner of carb . or your carb base gasket is bad seen this many times with th early 90's caprice weather its a 4.3 5.0 or 5.7litre engine . worked n many of these and still have do as I work for a co. that still has one with over 400,00 mile and still running strong same engine 5.0

Why does my cruise control not work some of the times on my 2001 f-150 supercrew 4wd

Ck your vaccum lines . A small vaccum leak can cause this . Trace the lines to the vaccum servo connected to the throttle cable at the TBI unit . You may want to trace them from the TBI back to the resivior and vaccum sourse .... it's easier that way some times if you don't really know the system and where it starts from

What year motors, can I use to replace my blown 1996 305 vortec? I own a 1996 GMC 1500, sl, ext. cab. Does it have to be a vortec for my current computer to work properly? Will engine mounts, bell housing,...

You can use any 305 motor. Like you said you will have to exchange parts from your old motor to the new one. Just make sure you don't go to far back, because the old 305's don't have the injector ports. Then you would have to replace the heads also.

Yes any TBI motor will work, You do have to switch your sensors, possibly motor mounts and balancer from the old motor. all other items should transfer.

Have an 88 Chevy c1500 305 Eng i want to change tbi to carburetor

2bbl intake will not fit 87-95 small blocks heads are diferent from pre 86.the center bolts on your manifold are angled different than the front and back bolts.your 2bbl manifold has the same angle bolts front to back.i converted my buddies 89 to carb, had to make adapter plate for carb.but to make a long story short there is a lot of power loss and fuel economy your better of with tbi.
