How do I put the washers on an a/c tensioner pulley on a 2003 Hyuandai Elantra?

To remove the A/C belt from the car I removed the tensioner pulley. When I replaced the pulley and tightened the bolt that holds it in place, the pulley will not turn. I loosened the bolt and the pulley does turn easily. I think I might have placed the washers in the incorrect order. Is there a diagram on how the washers should be placed on the pulley?

How to fit a fan belt for daihatsu sirion 1.3 2003 model?

Should be pretty straight forward... most of the time there is a diagram under the hood of the car or in you owners manual to give you a visual. It's best to snap a picture with your phone before you remove the belt. There is a tensioner pulley that you put a wrench or socket on and either pull or push, this releases the tension on the belt, with your free hand remove the belt from pulleys, place the new belt around the pulleys just as the old one came off, again put pressure on the tensioner pulley and slip the new belt on.

Serpentine belt diagram for a 2003 Chevy unpalatable 4.3

Pop the hood of the car and locate the serpentine belt routing diagram. The diagram on the 2003 Chevrolet Impala is on top of the fan shroud. The diagram will be a picture of all of the accessory pulleys and how the serpentine belt is routed among the pulleys. This diagram will give you the exact direction for routing the new belt onto the pulleys. If you cannot find a serpentine belt routing diagram, take a notepad and pen and draw out the exact routing diagram of the old belt across the pulleys.

  • 2 Locate the serpentine belt tensioner. It is located below the alternator on the left front side of the engine. The tensioner on the 3.4 liter, 3.5 liter and the 3.9 liter engines will require a 3/8 ratchet to release the belt tensioner. The 3.8 liter engine will require a ratchet and a 15 mm socket for the belt tensioner. Rotate the belt tensioner clockwise to loosen and remove the belt from the belt tensioner pulley.
  • 3 Slide the old belt from the belt tensioner pulley. Remove the belt from the remaining pulleys and pull the belt from the engine compartment.
  • 4 Route the new belt across the crankshaft pulley first. The crankshaft pulley is the big pulley on the bottom of the engine in the center. Then route the serpentine belt across the remaining pulleys as directed by the serpentine belt routing diagram. Leave the belt tensioner pulley for last.
  • 5 Rotate the belt tensioner clockwise again to relieve the tension and slide the new belt across the top of the belt tensioner pulley. Release the belt tensioner and the belt will tighten up as the tensioner applies pressure to the belt. Make sure the new belt is properly seated in all the pulleys.
  • 6 Crank the engine and inspect the belt again to make sure that it stays seated in the pulleys.

How to take the timing belt off on 2003 jeep liberty

The is a tension pulley that you have to put a wrench on to release the tension on the belt and then you just unwrap it. The tension pulley is the one that is just a pulley and it is spring loaded, move it clockwise to remove tension. I think it is either a 9/16 or a 5/8 - at least it is on my 1995 model.

How do I install the serpentine belt on a 2003 Ford expedition?

Hello,Locate the serpentine belt tensioner on the front of the engine. The tensioner is what keeps tension on the belt and keeps the belt from coming off.The tensioner will have a bolt head in the middle of it that a 15mm socket will fit
STEP 2:Look on the hood base where the hood lock attaches to the base and see if there is a belt diagram. This diagram will give you the exact instruction for properly routing the belt across the pulleys. If there is no diagram there, you will need to write down the exact routing of the belt on the pulleys on a notepad
STEP 3:Put the 15mm socket onto the ratchet and put the ratchet onto the bolt head on the belt tensioner.
STEP 4:Turn the tensioner clockwise to relieve the tension on the belt and remove the belt from all of the pulleys
STEPS 5:Remove the new serpentine belt the same way that the old one came off by following the belt routing diagram instruction.Do not put the belt across the tensioner until last.Keep in mind that the belt will only go on one way and be right.
STEP 6:Put the ratchet with the 15mm socket back on the belt tensioner and rotate the tensioner clockwise to give you enough room to slide the new belt across the belt tensioner pulley.Slide the belt onto the belt tensioner pulley and release the belt tensioner.Look over the belt and double check to make sure that the belt is running across all of the
    pulleys correctly
STEP 7:Crank the car and inspect that the belt is secure and is staying in the grooves on all of the pulleys.

    Thanks

I have a 2003 rav4 v4 and I'm replacing the serpentine belt. What do I loosen to remove the old belt and install new?

Look for a tensioner pulley. It's spring loaded to maintain tension on the belt. It's a pulley that does not spin a device like alternator, power steering pump or AC compressor. If you put a wrench on it and push it one way or another you can overcome the spring tension and the belt will just pop off. Check the belt routing diagram under the hood when you reinstall a new belt. It should identify the tensioner pulley, sometimes known as an idler pulley.

How do you remove the drive belt of a 2003 Toyota

Click on the following free direct Link. It has the correct Serpentine/Drive Belt Diagrams for your 2003 Toyota Camry with either the 2.4L 4-Cylinder or 3.0L V6 Engine.

    "HOW TO":
Standard Rules to Removal the Serpentine Belt with an Automatic Tensioner:
    1. Find the Tensioner(s). (See Diagrams on Link)
    2. Using a Serpentine Belt Tensioner Tool, Or Wrench OR Ratchet, Rotate/Move the Tensioner USING THE AVAILABLE NUT (on the Pulley or Arm Base) OR the OPENING (3/8ths or 1/2 inch square opening) rotating the Tensioner Pulley/Arm - moving it away from contact with the belt and towards the area where the belt is not in contact with the Tensioner Pulley. The Tensioner is spring loaded, and is hard to rotate/move.
    3. Remove the loosened belt off one of the other more easily accessed Pulleys.
    4. DO NOT quickly release the Tensioner, but gently allow the Tensioner to rest in its closed position.

Standard Rules for Installing the Serpentine Belt with an Automatic Tensioner:
    a. Pick a Pulley that is most easily accessed. This will usually be on top. This will be the last Pulley that the belt will go on.
    b. Using the Diagram: Install the new Serpentine Belt on the remainder of the Pulleys....over, under, left right.
    c. Using a Serpentine Belt Tensioner Tool or Wrench or Ratchet Tool: Rotate/Move the Tensioner Pulley/Arm "away" from Belt contact area on the Tensioner. This spring is pretty hard and with a new belt, it will be even harder to install. Rotate/Move this to as-close to the maximum allowed inorder to have enough slack in the belt to get it up and over the last pulley.
    d. Using your other hand - Pull the Belt up and over the Last remaining Pulley.
    e. Before releasing the pressure on the Tensioner, visually inspect the remainder Pulleys and the Belts' Positioning on them.

    AC BELT NEEDS CHANGED

You have to remove the main serpentine belt first. this is done with a 15mm wrench put on the tensioner. then from the bottom you can get to the a/c belt tensioner. install a 3/8 ratchet on it and remove tension from belt. I find the only way to get belt on and off is too slip it off the tensioner then off the backside of crank pulley then slide off of a/c compressor then install new belt onto the crank letting it fall off the backside run belt around compressor tensioner then work around crank pulley
