Stering wheel shakes - 1999 Mercury Villager

It could be a power steering issue, it could be something wrong with the alignment. you should definately take it in to a shop.

What make? What model? This could be caused by brake problem, worn front end part (bad ball joint can be very dangerous), or even something simple such a worn tie rod end. If you want to test these things, put jack under lower A arm on one side and just lift the weight off the wheel and put on jack stand. Have a helper wiggle the steering wheel while you look underneath for loose motion at some part. Nothing? Then grab wheel at sides and try to wiggle wheel. Now repeat at top and bottom of wheel. A bad steering damper can also cause this. If you are not experienced at front end work, have alignment shop check things out. A bad ball joint can break and cause you to lose control of the car. GET IT FIXED asap.

MAY BE NEEDS A TUNE UP OR TROTTLE OSITION SENSOR NEEDS CLEAN OR REPLACE, ALSO CHECK SPARK PLUGS .

I would say your wheels might need balancing, and possibly you need a wheel alignment.

Hello, It sounds like you need your wheels balanced and the play adjusted on your steering. At high speeds the wheels will wobble if they ate not balanced correctly. Jax or someone similar should be able to help you with that. Takes about an hour.

check all your stering linkages, for play, if ok then replace your stering shock or dampener, this helps control the so call dead shake, hope it helps.

bearings in the wheels or cv axle may be bad

you could have bad front wheel bearings or your brake rotor has high spot and low spots.or warped.

sounds like it may be out of alignment bad. although the drag link will do this also all by itself

you need to get a new steering column in there asap. i had one do that to me and it ended up breaking on me
