Quick question: did you remember to put in a new battery? Usually, a clicking noise indicates that the battery is way down and cannot provide enough juice to fire the solenoid that fires the starting motor.

The starting motor is a small electric device that engages the crankshaft and turns it so that your vehicle's cylinders are charged with fuel and air. Then, the cylinder that is a top dead center fires and the ignition process begins.

1999 Chrysler lhs dies after 2min wont start with out a jump new alternator new battery starter works just fine

Engine may be about to seize. Could be fuel being flooded in combustion chamber. Could be water being leaked into it. The engine becomes 'heavy' thus it needs strong voltage for starter to turn the engine.

I need to know the location of a starter for a Chrysler lhs?

Melco starter being used with the 3.5L engine, and a Nippondenso for the 3.3L. Both follow the same step-by-step procedure. By inference it sounds like there is only one wrinkle in that the procedure is as follows:
Disconnect the battery (-) cable
Raise the vehicle
Do not remove the wiring from the starter at this time, first:
Remove three bolts attaching starter motor to engine
Remove the starter/starter solenoid as an assembly from the engine:
Position the assembly so as to gain access to the connectors
Remove the battery cable nut, field terminal nut, and push-on solenoid wire connector and the other wires
Remove the starter.
Installation is the reverse. Clean the cable and wire connectors before reassembly.
So other than that, neither the Chrysler nor the Haynes speak of any unusual steps in the process.
Let me know if you find otherwise so I can pass the info on to other owners, please.
I haven't done this one myself, so it is limited advice I can offer. The figures show there to be a "cover" mounted between the starter motor and the engine (it looks like a gasket) and the top bolt hole contains a "starter shield retention sleeve".
So you might want to familiarize yourself with those at the time you finally remove the motor so you don't loose track of those small parts.
On the Melco it shows that the starter solenoid can be replaced separately, but doesn't show that for the Nipppondenso.

My 1997 Chrysler Concord sometimes will not start---battery good, starter good, alternator good.....Makes clicking sound when key is turned. What's next to check? Thanking you in advance, Virginia

if you have a clicking sound when you try to start the car and the noise is coming from the front of the car then the starter has a bad spot in it or there is a dirty or bad connection at the starter.if the connection is good and clean(not dirty or corroded)then the starter has a bad spot in it and this is why it will start sometimes.

Replaced alternator in 1997 lhs crysler and am

A little spark is normal, just the power going to the computer. A huge spark is a shorted wire, probably an over tightened positive terminal that cracked the plastic insulator on the alternator, or a bad alternator out of the box .
