I have a 2000 Mercury Villager and the fuses for the turn signals and brake lights keep blowing. Why?

You have a short to ground on that circuit , you need to look at a wiring diagram an see what all is on that circuit . It's hard to get out of park because this circuit supply's power to the shift interlock actuator . You don't need to step on the brake pedal for this fuse to blow ? just stick in a new one an it blows ? This fuse also powers the brake switch , which powers your brake lights . The alternator is not charging the battery. Could be a bad connection bugt usually it's the alternator that's bad. The Villager & Quest both turn on the battery light and the brake light when the charging system is not working porperly

If you have the factory alarm system, you can put your key into either door and lock and unlock the door, that signals the computer to deativate the alarm. If you have an aftermarket alarm system installed, it will have to be removed and the wiring that the alarm ties into must be restored to factory design.

sounds like a bad headlight switch, when lights are staying on unplug switch ,if lights go out then replace switch, good luck.

check the brake switch. it controls a brake relay which may have fused contacts.
