1999 Volvo S40 cannot remove key

Key will not turn all the way anticlockwise and will not come out. Have tried pulling the release button out on the auto gear shift, jiggling the steering wheel and spraying the gear shift release button and the key with WD40 but still cannot get key to turn fully off. Car starts and runs fine.

What make vehicle ? Most all vehicles have a safety system .Don't try an force anything you'll break it !
Electronic Park Lock (EPL)/Ignition Lock Cylinder Control Actuator: If the vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission and a floor mounted console gear shift, it has an ignition lock cylinder control actuator system in the steering column. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator purpose is to prevent the ignition key from being turned to the OFF position when the transmission is in any position other than PARK and the vehicle may still be moving. The column ignition lock system consists of an ignition lock cylinder control actuator, and a park position switch that is located in the automatic transmission shift lock control switch. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator contains a pin that is spring loaded to mechanically prevent the ignition key cylinder from being turned to the lock position when the vehicle transmission is not in the PARK position. If vehicle power is lost, and/or the transmission is not in the PARK position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column. They also have this on column mounted shifters !

My hazard lights on my 2000 volvo s40 won't turn off please help pressed switch couple of times only turns off while you hold the button in

Sounds like a sticky/bad switch. You can try rapidly pressing the hazard button numerous times to see if switch will release. Usually it will. If not, you can pull the fuse for the hazards (location and identification in owners manual)

2005 Volvo S40 with key stuck in ignition. It turns off but key doesn't come, out of the steering wheel. Please advise needed, if lock change is required estimated cost of part and labour please.

Some ignition system locks will not release the key unless you push in towards the column while turning further off. It is a safety device to stop in advertent removal of the key while moving. Try that first.

How do I turn off the day lights on a 2003 Volvo S40?

Why would you want something that makes your vehicle safer off? The only place would be the dealer turning the option off with their computer.

On 2004 first generation model you can turn them off... put the lights in the middle position -parking lights- turn key to number 2 position, pull back turn signal lever towards you, hold it back and turn lights to off position and release.

I heard that other owners pulled the fuse but only after making sure that that was the only function of the fuse and that lights all worked as normal at night.

Cannot remove key from ignition when car is in

Try pressing and releasing the gearshift disengagement button to the upper right of the gearshift knob. This has an electrical switch which controls a solenoid in the ignition keyswitch.
