SOURCE: How do I change an alternator belt on a '99 hyundai accent?

Call your local National Guard Armory, Fire Station, State College auto program or High School Auto Shop and ask if they have somebody that would come put it on for you. Ask you pastor who the "auto guy" in the church is, if you don't have a church call the biggest church closest to you and ask the receptionist if they have an "auto guy" that would help you. The local senior center or VFW hall have "auto guys" . If you were within 50 miles of 83501 I'd come do it for you.

Removal & Installation Raise and support the vehicle.

    Remove the engine splash shield.
  1. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise to release the drive belt tension.
  2. Remove the drive belt from the alternator.
  3. Slowly release the drive belt tensioner.
  4. Remove the drive belt from the accessory drive pulleys.
To install:
  1. Install the drive belt to the accessory drive pulley.
  2. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise.
  3. Install the drive belt to the alternator.
  4. Ensure the drive belt is properly aligned and seated into the grooves of the accessory drive pulleys.
  5. Slowly release the drive belt tensioner
  6. Install the engine splash shield.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

It's O.K. to ask for some help.

SOURCE: i need to see a diagram of how to change a

Do you have a digital camera? Take pictures of your engine bay, especially the belt routing and save them to your computer for later viewing.
Next push down on your belt with enough pressure to see which pulley arm moves. This is your tensioner,if you put a box end wrench on the bolt of that pulley you can push down on it and release the tension on the belt for removal.
Then look at your pictures as to how the belt was originally installed. You'll need to move that tensioner enough to replace the belt. After replacing the belt make sure it's on 100% before starting the engine.

SOURCE: How do I change the power steering belt on a 2001

Normally there will be a hole to insert an Allan key or drill bit to hold the tensioner so look for that first

Will a alternator from a 1999 accent fit a 2002 accent

Yes, it will. Here is a picture of the alternator that fits from 1999 to 2002: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ALTERNATOR-HYUNDAI-ACCENT-ELANTRA-2000-2001-2002-90-AMP-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZYearQ3a1999Q7cMakeQ3aHyundaiQ7cModelQ3aAccentQQhashZitem1e6181bed1QQitemZ130484911825QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#vi-ilComp As long as the connections and mounts are the same, it should work. If the pulley is different, you can swap your pulley. Make sure the belt lines up with the other pulleys.

How to take the alternator off?

I did this recently on Hyundai Accent. First things first is to disconnect the battery to prevent any contact that can produce sparks during the disconnection of the positive (+) supply of the alternator 1. Jack up car. Remove splash guards from bottom. 2. From bottom loosen pivot bolt. 3. From bottom disconnect cables. 4. From top loosen adjustment bolt and slacken belt. 5. Remove belt from pulley and remove adjustment bolt. 6. From bottom remove pivot bolt. 7. Alternator may have corroded to mounting bracket so work it loose. 8. Find out alternator will not slide out of engine compartment. 9. Loosen radiator mounting bolts. 10. Shift radiator to side to make more room to get alternator out. 11. Install alternator. 12. Put radiator back in its place.
I guess it depends on what year... I too just did an alternator on a 2001 Accent. First, and what the previous forgot, disconnect the negative battery cable. Steps 1 thru 5 are exact. Step 6 is where we differ. 6. From bottom, push alternator up and out of mounting slot, gently work it down and out. 7. The pivot bolt can then be punched out (my bolt had a center mark where a punch would stay, so not to damage the threads) and then put into the replacement. Re-assemble in reverse order.
Last night I did this repair on 1999 accent. a 10mm and 12mm sockets and end wrenches are needed. After trying to wiggle the alternator up through the top, I was afraid of damaging other electrical connections, so I took the oil filter off. It was time for an oil change anyway, but just removing the filter only lost maybe half a quart of oil. The local autozone had an alternator for 129.99, lifetime warranty.

Looking for an overview of changing power steering belt

Remove the 14mm bolt securing the alternator tensioner to the alternator. Then take the tensioner off and use a prybar to slide the alternator back enough to take off the belt. Then loosen the 14mm p/s tensioer bolt. slide the pump back and change the belt.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

Good luck.

1996 Hy;undai Accent air conditioner bellt--I can't get the belt over the spacer. The adjuster screw won't come out all the way. Talk to me.

What else does the Ac belt in the model run around, for instance if it runs around the alternator you could loosen the alternator and then tighten both bolts when the belt is on
