Sounds like you have button to one of your door locks that is stuck, you remove door lock switches and disconnect 1 at a time to see which one it is. Over time a stuck switch will drain the battery it's sending voltage to all locks constantly, there's a switch tied to ignition switch on some models that locks door when you start the engine and unlocks doors when you shut the engine off, Chev. Suburbans have that
Providing central locking works when you insert key in lock, try programming keys
Enter car make sure all doors/windows are shut
Switch ignition on and off, remove key
PRESS AND HOLD UNLOCK BUTTON ON KEY
Press lock button on key 3 times whithin 10 seconds and release unlock
Central locking will lock/unlock rapidly to confirm reset
If your key is the type with bmw logo in the middle battery replacement is not possible,as it charges as you drive
some cars are fitted with autolock, car starts/car locks. some are fitted with driver masterlock button(above door switch panel)so the driver can lock all the doors/unlock for passengers to alight.but to stop you
locking the keys inside/you have them in your hand),car will not let you lock when in on position, keys in ignition/engine running etc.
so you do not have a problem.
On 2002 model try the following:
1.Close all vehicle doors.
2.Insert the key into the ignition. 3.Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel-continue to hold down until instructed to release in step 9. 4.Perform steps 5 through 8 in fairly rapid succession. 5.Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine). 6.Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. 7.Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 8.Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. 9.Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The vehicle will lock and unlock the doors automatically. 10.Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously until the door locks and unlocks. This step may take up to 30 seconds. 11.Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional transmitter (including any existing transmitters). 12.Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.
Initialize keys. Have all keys for the car with in reach. Get in car and close all doors. Put 1 key in the ignition and turn it to the key on engine off position and quickly turn it off and remove the key. With in 5 seconds press and hold the unlock button while pressing the lock button 3 times, after the 3rd press release the unlock button. If successful the door locks will lock then unlock. For the remaining keys you do not need to cycle the ignition just press the buttons as mentioned before.
i think that this is to prevent you from locking your keys in the car with the engine running.
Some remote starters have a feature that when the car is running (and in park) you can hit the remote start button twice for one second each - then you can take the key out of the ignition and still have the car running.
At this point....if you would hit the 'lock' button on your door the doors would immediately unlock. However, if you get out of the car and close the door leaving it unlocked and then you hit the 'lock' on your original car remote the doors will lock and stay locked. So now the car is running the doors are locked and you have the keys in your hands. Then you can run into the store or house real quick with your car locked.
Once you come back, you hit 'unlock' on the original car remote. the doors will unlock - you can get it - and then before hitting the brake put the key in the ignition and turn it (dont crank it) as if you had when originally using the remote starter.
Maybe this will work for you.....
