Why won't it start?

I was driving down the road at a slow speed and my montero sport began to sputter as if it were running out of gas or something and then died and will not start back up. I've put gas in it, checked the fuel filter and it leaked gas from the front side when i tried to start it, forgot to tighten it fully, so i know the pump was pumping.

When i push the gas it stalls and stutters

Disconnect the battery and let the computer reset. Do the issues go away? If so, then it is related to something that the computer is learning during driving. Narrowing that down can take a LONG time, even for a certified automobile technician.

My 2000 montero sport has little or no power when driving up hill

First thing I'd do is replace the fuel filter. If the car runs fine on level ground or downhill but struggles uphill, it's usually because a clogged filter isn't allowing enough fuel through to satisfy the engine's demand for enough to keep you at speed going uphill. Try that out - it's an inexpensive part and is usually the cause of your symptoms.
