Average cost of replacing freeze plug. Where are they located on a V8 engine
Wow no statement of why?
1: one leaks a bit, i see tiny hole in center and it squirts hot AF .
2: the engine ICE froze last winter and some plugs popped out.. (must we guess this?)
costs would be impossible. 100s of variables.
(including which ones? , or HOW MANY)
Prices, labor is most if this.not parts.
labor varies by country ,state and town.
and rust. and what is bad.
ask 3 mechanics, that is what you do.
and they will look first. (we can not , we are blind)
lets pretend only one leaks.
he sees it and goes. that be $200
and then says, if more leak, that is not my job.
that quote is for 1.
dig?
part $5
labor $100 hr.
2 hours is 200.
3 is 300.
see? averages dont matter with leaks.
only how many leak. matters.
and how hard it is to reach them.
many are very hard.
if behind block, (pull engine to reach)
he will say, gee car was never serviced ever.
so all the core plugs will be rusty,
so do you want to do this every week. he says.
? or do them all ,he recommends that.
see why? (if one is rusted through , all are close)
4.7L 5.7L or 6.1L V8, must we guess this?????????????
do they leak? if yes where.>?
there are many.
try watching this in google or youtube,
to learn all the easy ones and hard ones, ?
or read a real engine repair book (engines for dummies)
yes, it takes near no skills to remove (bashed out) but going in
lots of skill, and right SIZE is #1 issue.
there is no average labor costs. for this.
it depends on where it is and how many leak.?
and rust, some cars are very hard to dismantle if very rusty. and as you do parts break.
My guess, is you've never done engine work>?
they are not really freeze plugs they are core plugs. (but we all know these words, no big deal)
but some times if the water freezes they can save your bacon.
in most cases NOT your goose is cooked,(cracked)
there are freeze plugs in heads too.
so why not spend some time doing your own research at jeep.com
look at your unstated V8 engine.
ill toss my magic coin, land on 4.7L
on head, iD 12 in head graphics "core plugs": = ID 12.
id 4 and 5 on block.
as seen here.
you can read at any time,, 24/7

"core cups and plugs."
what matters is what really leaks, you may have guessed wrong.
how many leak
and if the engine must be pulled to fix that.
some yes, others no.
sometimes only mount needs to be removed. to get to a core plug.
why not look for yourself
btw 2year coolant changes, this never happens.... so.....
