VORTEC TM 8100 V8. Why is it jerky shifting? - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 2WD

Could be an engine or transmission mount. If the transmission flares(hesitates then hits hard). I would service the transmission first, fluid and filter. I would also add a bottle of Lubeguard to it. When you pull the pan, check for metal, any kind of flakes or chunks in it, Put the pan back on and put the old fluid back in. Time for a rebuild or replace. The black stuff around the magnet is normal wear. If you have the check engine or transmission light on. Get the codes.

Thats a tough one, the computer problems are huge on swapping the v8 in.. If it was me I would use an older motor that's not running a computer..or a crate motor ...

i do not beleve they have any the reason those engines are called vortecs is because the vaccum is self contained inside of the intake plenum that is also where your fuel injectors, pressure regulator and the entire fuel spyder is located . . . dont forget to rate my answer thanks:)

Change the Throttle Positioning Sensor.
Clean the Mas Air Flow sensor with carburator cleaner, carefully.

Different computer for sure, and probably a bunch of sensors, distributor, wires , starter, plug - ins, etc. The only way I would ever attempt that is if i had a whole perts truck to pick off of. You'd be far better off to fix the head gasket, sell it, and buy a truck with a V8 in it already, than to try that.

wrong transmission fluid type is an obvious solution, also look at the pressure control solenoid. check the filter is installed correctly.
