Engine vibrations can be from
misfiring
valve timing not correct
ignition timing not correct
balance shaft out of time
harmonic balancer failed
run the fault codes to check valve variation operation is correct and other problem sensors
if it has a chain , it could be a worn chain problem
if it has a engine driven fan then it could be a water pump bearing or fan hub problem

PLEASE HELP 2006 colt 1.5 diesel why is the exhaust hitting rear axle only when starting the engine??? thanks JIM

check the hanger and brackets for missing or broken/bent --also check the heat shield may be out of place --start up is when the engine shakes and vibrates the most --when idling it smooths out and the engine mounts take up the smaller vibrations

2004 ford freestar 3.9 engine is rough vibration at about 1000 rpm, above and below 1000 rpm it runs smooth

Has the vehicle not been at a repair shop for
a couple of days, so it can be driven & the issues
figured out

All your doing is telling us the place you went can't
diagnose a vehicle

That sadly, is what we try to respond to hundreds
of times a week

When a vehicle runs rough & vibrates, you can not
come on here & say a shop can't find anything wrong,
when you can

The vehicle has to be properly diagnosed

We can't guess & you won't understand any
solutions or be in a position to tell a shop how
to do their job

I've changed my engine mounts 3 times on my 2004 A4 cabreolet and they fail within miles(start to vibrate & then within a week, severe knocking) the 2nd time, also changed the ****** mount, 3r

Engine mounts do not go bad in five miles. Sounds like you're treating a symptom and not the cause of a more serious issue. Are you sure all cylinders are firing correctly? That the severe knocking is not coming from your engine internals? Have you checked the steel around the engine mounting points for cracks or other damage? And just in case, if the mounts you are using are poly, are you lubing them before installation?

Engine vibration

check for loose engine mounts(usually 15-19mm nut that tightens the rubber mount which dampens vibrations) located either side of engine block not sure if they are in engine bay or underneath near axles. check gearbox and Eng oil levels if everything seems to be ok it may be a gearbox problem and not completely engaging disengaging gear

I have engine vibration in 2004 Trailblazer. Vibrates when at a stop. Some vibration when in nutrel, but really bad when put into drive. Had motor mounts replaced. Replaced the plugs and coil packs. ...

Good call on the engine mounts, this problem has had a lot of TB owners scratching their head. Hope you used genuine GM mounts, aftermarket mounts tend to crush too much sending you back with the same problem you started with. With aftermarket mounts, the engine will not be as high as needed, the rubber isn't as stiff. Seen this many times. The other thing to check is you tranny mounts. Engine and tranny mounts are usually the culprit with vibration while in gear and stopped with TB's. What type of plugs did you install? Have you cleaned your throttle body?

Unknown Vibration

motor mounts can be changed without pulling the motor the load percent change that the other guy posted is normal and a vaccum leak would cause the engine idle to wander when in neutral. if you need info on how to change mounts let me know

sounds more like a ujoint or a center support for the drive shaft. also check and make sure that the flywheel bolts have not come loose. also check the harmonic balancer and make sure it is not seperating

Severe vibration

Replace balancer. You don't notice them until you rev it up.
