Hi there: This code is set when the MAF (Mass Air Flow) meter is not sending the PCM the correct information. This can be due to a bad conection of the rubber intake hose between the MAF and the Throttle plate opening, a dirty air filter, a dirty mass air flow or a bad mass air flow.
Most programmer have you tie into the iat sensor in the mass air flow. this can cause the the iat sensor oto short out.
There is a special cleaner/solvent needed to clean mass air flow sensor. It can not leave a residual film. You can go to most any auto parts stores & locate it. It will say mass air flow sensor cleaner or safe to use on mass air flow sensors. I know a company called CRC makes the one I use. Just disassemble boots to both side of sensor & unplug wire connector. Clean off both sides of grid & allow to dry. Reassemble.
Thanks for using FixYa. The BUICK Regal Mass Air Flow sensor is usually
installed in the intake air duct between the air filter and the throttle body
mounted on the intake manifold. Also check the throttle body for mass air flow sensors location. On mass air flow sensors with a sense wire, this wire can
become contaminated with dust particles. These particles can be removed with
automotive solvents that are safe for the use on mass air flow sensors. Before replacing the
mass air flow sensor check for air leaks in the connecting air ducts and intake
manifold. These leaks can cause similar symptoms as a malfunctioning mass air
flow sensor.
Bad or contaminated BUICK Regal Mass Air Flow sensor can possibly cause a wide
range of various vehicle drivability problems such as stalling, especially when
the engine is cold, misfiring, poor acceleration, etc. In addition, a problem
with the Mass Air Flow sensor often causes the "check engine" or
"service engine soon" light in the vehicle instrument panel to
illuminate.

MAF stands for mass air flow sensor, this is used to tell the computer how much air is entering the engine, check the air filter, and clean the sensor with CRC mass air flow cleaner, with engine off. hope this helps, let me know Ray
Could be a few things. IS the check engine on? Could just be a bad mass air flow sensor. Or a seized wastegate. Yuo can start by trying to unplug the mass air flow sensor. If it runs better it could be just that. Just make sure to remove and clean the lower air filter box change the air filter and the snow screen which is located next to the battery where the air enters. These always are blocked. If it runs ok (not perfect change the mass air flow.
hi there, when air flow unplugged, ecu goes into limp home mode ,a back up if something dies whilst driving. it sounds as if your used mass air flow sensor is faulty , they are more fragile than they look, one knock and these early fine wire models are gone. i replaced many when i worked at a volvo dealership a few years ago. hope this helps, and good luck.
