Why is my car alarm system light stay on and alarm system has stopped working?

The light just stays a solid red now, when before if i locked it with the key, it would blink and the alarm would be activated.

Use your key fob to lock and unlock the doors,if you dont have one,call your dealer,your anti theft system is going to activate soon and you wont be able to drive it

    I use my key fob to unlock and lock my doors, but that light stays on.

    EDIT: Also, this light has been on for several months and I haven't had any issue with it, besides my alarm not working.

    take it to a nissan dealer,dont ever lose the remote,you will need it later,or call a dealer and ask for a mechanic and let him hear that,he might help

After Market alarms are always full of issues especially when the batteries are disconnected of the car batteries are disconnected.

This is the aftermarket alarm may be time for a new set but before you go that direction the alarm light may have shorted to a power and not affecting the alarm itself by the way does the alarm horn work and is it diconnected because if it is it realy activated. If it isnt and alarm horn works but the light always stays on the the alrm internal relays doesnt switch over. The fix most area will make you get a whole new one

Red vehicle light with key in middle flashing only when the car is off, when I put key in ignition it stops, what is this
This is your security light. When you lock your car you will see it stays solid and after about 30 seconds it will blink again. That means your alarm is armed on your car. When your car is off and it blinks that means it's ready to arm. Think of it like an alram in your home but it's in your car. But when your key is in the ignition the alarm is shut off until your key is taken out of the ignition. I hope this answers your question!!

If the red light stays on when you lock the vehicle, this means there is an electrical issue with the system. Might need further dealership diagnosis.

Although the most common cause of the frequent false alarms is the hood contact switch, located in the left rear of the engine compartment, near the micro filter housing. About a 20$ part.

When you try to start car the alarm goes off and car wont start and horn goes on and off the locks click back and forth
'99 camry: with alarm sounding. turn key to "ON" position and press in and hold alarm button (red two position (in /out) on dash board. Button should go from flashing red to solid red. Release button when it stays lit (solid bright red) . Alarm is now in disabled mode and engine should crank when key is turned to "start" position. "Thank you" for over the phone tech support at Richardson Toyota in Texas.
