The Blade could be out of alignment the resulting binding the shaft causing massive resistance and stalling. You could be over loading with your method of mowing, Or there could be a dead short. In what gear are you in? do you ever clean out the blade area? it could be so full...

Could be the hydraulic block. Solenoid is bad. Could be the controller itself(PC board). could be bad wiring or motors. Depends on years. These are search and fix problems. It really has to be in my hands to fix. Most fixes are from corrosion. Meaning ,loosen a nut or bolt, retighten. Unplug and plug back in. If you see white to greenish color on wires, most likely the need replaced.
-Drain cooling system. -Remove drive belts. -Remove bolts attaching fan shroud to radiator. -Remove fan blade from fan clutch and remove fan shroud. -Remove fan clutch and water pump pulley from water pump. -Remove four bolts and one nut attaching A/C compressor mounting bracket to cylinder head and water pump. To fix the power steering problem with the 2004 Saturn Ion is simple, replace the power steering motor. It is held on with two bolts, one bolt is difficult to get to because it is hard to see. Remove the two gold bolts and unplug the motor. Put the new motor in and plug it in and you are good to go. The part number is: 20995579 and I paid $187.53 and it only took me 20 minutes. Twenty minutes because one bolt is hard to reach. You will find the motor up under the dash board where the brake pedal is, up by the steering column. You will have to lay on your back and look up, there are 4 silver bolts - leave those alone, they are part of the motor, it is the two gold bolts you need to remove. Good luck to all of you, it worked for me. You do not need expensive repairs or the entire steering column replaced!!! I reported this problem to Saturn and they are not at this time doing a recall. I am a 50 yr old female and did the repair myself!!
its the shift solenoid theres 2 of them ones about 100 bucks the other was 45 mine had the same problems i paid a guy 100 bucks to drop the pan and change the switch shifts like new happened at about 128000 miles
