Sounds like a RFID issue. Your key most likely has a chip inside of it. Most of the time people will have multiple keys on their key chain that can cause interference with the receiver in your steering column. Try using the one ignition key to start.

First you need to go to the local parts store and get a steering wheel puller and a clock spring compressor tool. You can rent them but just cheaper to buy it and return it. I got mind like 35 bucks together.
You will remove the horn button just by pulling it towards you be careful not to rip the horn wire out. Next there may be a retainer clip remove it with a pair of needle nose pliers. Next get a breaker bar or a impact gun to back the center nut off. Once off use the steering wheel puller by inserting the threaded bolts into the threaded holes directly beside the center pin. ease the puller onto the center pin and tighten down until the steering wheel starts to move back towards you continue until off. On some trucks there is a steel plate covering the housing to the left side and towards the top are two small torx screws remove them and remove the cover. Next grab your clock spring compressor and install it similar to the way you did the wheel puller you will tighten down the center bolt slightly decompressing the clock spring. as you compress the clock spring look to the center there is a small retainer clip that looks like it is made into the center pin pry the clip off making sure not to damage it and remove the compressor tool, remove the clock spring making sure to pay attention on how it comes apart you can put it all back together. Remove the turn signal switch should be 3 phillips head screws. You may need to disconnect the horn wire at this point it just turns slightly and pulls out. After you remove the clock spring you will see the lock cylinder body, follow the body towards the center pin. There will be a small torx bit or a phillips screw to it will be silver and very shinny at the end of the lock housing remove it and slide the lock cylinder out. Install the new one and reverse the steps.
hope this helps...........good luck!

You need to put the key in and turn it to the run position. Then put a seal pick or a small pin punch into the access hole in the side of the tumbler housing, push in on it and pull out the tumbler.

92 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme I need to change the ignition switch I have disconnected the battery to the steering wheel off. I still don't have access to the bolt to release the cylinder.

Remove the turn signal switch and you can see the cyl.
There is a tab you push down on with screwdriver and pull lock out.

Note the actual switch is on the lower column the key turns a rod that pushes the switch.

What makes the fuel pump not kick on on a 92 Oldsmobile Cutlass

There is a red wire close to the battery in the front. It's not connected to anything. Apply positive voltage and that will run your pump for testing purposes.

91 olds cutlass supreame 3.1 when runing turn ignition off.try to start immeaditely after.completely dead, sometimes after waiting appx.15 minuets it may start.replaced battery&starter no change.

Greeting's Bigcat.. Did you check all the fuses in the car as a first start..? If not you may want to as it could be one that controls the system . Ok... if you did you may want to see if you are getting power to the starter with a test lamp put the clamp on a piece of metal and hold the point to the starter cable ..have another person try to start the car , if you get power to the starter the probe should light up if and it would be the starter ...if the test lamp did not light up then it is a electrical issue in the ignition system and you will have to check all the wires in the starting circuit.
