You Have 2 Blower Motors in this System one in the Back and One in the Front, Check for Fuse and if Fuse is Good the FRONT Blower Motor Is the Problem, Replace Motor, This Is Assuming the SWITCH Is Good it can Be Checked with a Test Light Grounded and Probe Terminal at MOTOR For Power, as Long as you Have Power at Motor then Motor Is Bad.

SOURCE: 1997 explorer max ac switches between front and defroster vents

Check the vacuum hose going to the heater control valve,it may have popped off. If that is on. check the vacuum hose going to your recirculation door under the right side of your dash. I hope this helps.

The switch is controled by motor vacuum it may have come loose from under the hood or the back of the switch its self or it could be pluged W/Debris Remove the switch a chiltons manual will explain how step by step. theese manuals can be found at almost any auot parts store. If it is just dirty soaking it in hot water may clean it out. If tht vacuum line is bad cracked dry rotted ect, it runs about 30cents a foot to replace. Good luck with it

I have a 2001 expedition and the front vents blow hot air with ac on.back vents blow cold so i know its charged and compressor works.what can it be?

Check the blend doors found deep in the air duct underneath the dashboard. There may be loose linkages or the motor may not be working.

I have a 2007 ford explorer, all of a sudden, the ac blows only through the defroster, and at my feet. It will not blow through the front vents. The ac blows cold.

the blend door actuator is bad. there about 70 dollars at ford. make sure you hook up the actuator and put the control on defrost before you bolt it on the air box or you will brake the blend door.

2001 Expedition-- Location of the air duct actuator? A/C blows out front vents at first but then switches to blowing out of the defroster only (by itself :-( ) Sometimes it will correct itself and go back...

the motor that select the air to blow is the mode door actuator, some models are supply by air solenoid valve, if you want to see the location of mtor actuator, this is on the left side of evaporator case, a little bit upper of accelerator pedal

I have a problem with my air conditioner in my 2001 ford explorer

If cold air is coming out in the back seat then your compressor and the rest of the system that circulates the freon is working. When you turn on the A/C for the front do you hear the fan come on? If so and if no air at all comes out the front then you might have an air valve stuck or a blocked air duct. I don't know how extensive the damage was from your crash. If you cannot hear the fan start when only the front A/C is activated then you have some kind of electrical problem.
